Jay's Planted 180g Tank.

Jay. I don't know if your looking to add to your school of Columbians, but Petco has them on special this week (at least mine did) 5 for $5

Thanks. I got about 23 in the tank and they spawned. Surprisingly you'd think a 180g would be a large enough tank for these fish but adult Columbian tetras get a decent size and they don't seem to care to be in the plants just in open space. Two things I find weird with these tetras maybe it just mine but when I had schools of rummy noses and cardinals they were all over the place. 1.) annoying - they love attacking at the surface and will swarm at feeding splashing all over the place (they have managed to hit me at over an 18" distance while sitting at my sofa...LOL) 2.) They are not very active they just seem to stop swimming and seem to just be suspended in water except for the quick spat every once in a while and at feeding.

This reminds me I have to get the hood back on the tank...LOL

Did you pick any up?

Bucephalandra are a plant I know nothing about, only having seen the name several times, lol. From what I've googled, they look cool! Good luck & keep us posted on their growth (slow for all?) Some easier than others? Oh, & could you take a closer pic please? I can't see them well enough...I know they must be babies but...we want more!

I was tempted but I saw how big they got in your 180 and I only have a few 20h's set up right now. I thought better of it and passed

Love the tank thread, looks great, just read through the whole thing

Thank you. I usually start strong when stumbling on an interesting thread but somewhere after the 5th page I fail and just start looking for pictures and pick reading back up in the last few pages...LOL

I think I do have some better picks. I'll try to get them up tonight.

These were purchased from different sellers and these were their IDs at the time of purchase. Many of them have just been added in the last couple of weeks. Are they slow growers? Well the B. sekadau (which I have had the longest) has put out 1 leaf in 2 months. Most of the plants didn't have much in the way of roots so I'm hoping once that happens the growth rate picks up. None at this time seem to represent their names or pictures on the web except for the B. brownie red. Something else I hope changes when they establish themselves. May need to get them close to the surface for more light stimulate growth or color as well. (It's worked for others.)

Bucephalandra brownie red

Bucephalandra brownie blue

Bucephalandra brownie purple

Bucephalandra brownie ghost

Bucephalandra sekadau

Bucephalandra (this one wasn't identified by the seller)
