Help! Emergency tank upgrade

I would, just as a prevention and back up. Better prepared than not at all

It's showing you are cycled. If everything is being done normally, feeding and whatever, momua will be created.

If it's not showing in the tank, you have the bacteria you need.. it's not a new tank, not a new start.

This was my biggest fear. Essentially starting over. I was hoping for a bit darker nitrates this morning.
and what about my filtration... what should I add / replace ? I am using the existing sponge and a small whisper HOB. I moved EVERYTHING over. Even the submersible pump. Gravel deco and plants. But the fluval flex had a built in filtration system. And the sponge. So I cut up that media to shove in the HOB filter I added

Well you now have a tank that is twice the previous volume and a very light fish load and some plants. Nitrates will take twice as long to build up as before.

I guess that’s true and ... I got caught up in the nitrates = cycled as if I was starting from fresh. As you said it’s not new. So it’s a matter of how much ammonia is being converted and then Converting again to Show my current numbers. The fact the they are low. But not non existent is a good thing.

don't expect for higher nitrates, hope for less ammonia and nitrite. if they are good, so is your cycle.

the amount of bacteria in your aquarium will roughly double in less than a day, until there is no more food (or nitrogel compounds) for them to consume, a bit like pest snails.

I'd get a bigger filter.. but shop around and slow down. it will be OK. !
