    hitchhikers in my java moss

Pond snails CAN eat plants once they get to be about 1/4" or larger. Here is a DIY snail trap a buddy of mine posted on another forum. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f20/diy-pond-snail-trap-126550.html

Shipping to Canada, and Evaporating Fish

I definitely agree with earlier posters, that you should inform PayPal of the buyer's credibility issue here. Also, the whole "I don't care how much it costs" routine just makes it seem like he never intended to pay in the first place. My 2 cents.

    Anybody know what this is?

It's "mulm" IMO. This is just an umbrella word for what detritus in your tank breaks down into. Although it is not bacteria, it sure is good bacteria food :) or snail food.

What to stock in a 10G?

Good to see you over here from AA... :)

How to get Congo Tetras to come out?

Do you have any sort of background on the tank? Shutting off one side/removing reflections can make the fish feel safer. Also, although your J-ferns and anubias are huge and amazing :D more plants/rocks/hiding places would make them feel safer. More hiding places = more visible fish. Edit: I...

    Planted 30 gallon stock suggestions

I think Indian Dwarf puffers are out (she said south american?) so I'm assuming Amazon Puffers, which are better in groups than the Indians.

    Play sand...

Playsand is good, I prefer fool filter sand as it is larger grain (easier to clean, less likely to float and ruin impellers, some say combats the anaerobic pockets that people talk about) though.

    Planted 30 gallon stock suggestions

Hello :) I too have a planted 30gal! It looks like you have a low-light setup. If I were you I would add some easy low-light stem plants if you go with puffers to reduce reflections in the tank. I have never kept them, just read that they get a little distracted by their reflections ;) However...

Name that one fish that you totally regret getting...

:topic: What cichlid is that in your avatar? My biggest fish regret would be my Von Rio tetra that killed everything.

    Red Bump

Well, I am feeding them Jungle anti-parasite food, and dosing the tank with praziquantel. Will keep you all posted since you seem so interested :silly:

    Water changes

Oh yes, I must say that until I had my python I probably did WCs once a month at the most :uhoh: and I hated it. But I got my python when I had my first tank, I'm now on my fourth.

    Water changes

OH REALLY? TELL ME MORE. :silly: I like to do a water change (50% weekly because I dose EI) but if I am feeling lazy... I just drink a big cup of coffee, and pump the caffeine until I shake like this guy :headbang2: and then it's fine .

GBR's and BN plecos breeding in same tank?

Wow guppy... nice Sword on that Swordtail! Unfortunately I agree... fish love to eat eggs, so if you are really intent on breeding, keep a "spawners only" tank IMO. Otherwise, breeding is sporadic and luck-intensive at best.

When did I get so picky?

Have you asked your LFS to order? My place only had hornwort but they ordered Water Sprite (lol I asked for Wisteria but close enough right? ;) ) and L. Repens for me... they also ordered my Gold Barbs :) Edit: Save on shipping, support a local business, easy returns if the store has a good...

    Red Bump

Well, fortunately the red bump is no longer red, and is almost not even a bump anymore :) But my fish have started flashing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG-p0WaZXCE This is flashing, right? I think it may be gill flukes - no signs of ich, but the gills have always been rather red :( Okay...

I was given an empty tank

Of course there is the cichlid route (in a 25 rams, apistos, kribs, shellies... more options for the 40) which is popular for a reason, cichlids are awesome. Breeding display and what not, plus colors and personality. You could also go with the "basic community" route with...

    The best/hardest lesson you've learned?

I think mine was the same... my first tank was 3 Tiger Barbs with a betta :(

Tankmates for cherry barbs and tiger barbs?

I am a huge barb fan... so take this for what it's worth, but your Tiger Barb school could use expanding, and you could get some green ones (Moss Barbs).
