20 long reef build

The sandbed is a little thicker than I like but you will be ok. I would plan on vacuuming the sand weekly especially if you don't run a skimmer. Would be a good tank to load it up with a handful of watchman stype gobies and pistol shrimp. Maybe a pair of jawfish.

awesome, well what type of LED strip would you recommend. also i got 11 more pounds of live rock today, i just couldn't resist to fill it up. i was also given 5 little white star fish, and this tiny snail. not sure what kind it is, but it sure is fast.

i did want some gobys, could i have more than one type? if i lowered my sand bed would it cause a problem with the gobys?

You'll want at least an inch with a few drifts of 1.5 to 2 inches for burrowing gobies. You can take out a little if you want.

Yes, you can have multiples. There are some compatibility issues but many get a long great together.

Here is a "wild" shot of 3 different gobies. Yasha (back), rose and a pink stripe. These are types of watchman gobies and these are a few good examples of smaller watchmen that would do well in your tank. I would advise a screen top over the tank if you keep these guys. They can get a bit jumpy.

all 3 of them are awesome, will a screen top affect my coral growth??

here is an updated picture

i got 8 more pounds of live rock today so now im up to like 27lbs of live rock, i even got a little shard of green favia coral for free, but now i dont know if i want it seeing how it grows fast and is aggressive( i dont know how to trim it back without destroying the live rock) i tested my water
Ph-8.0, salinity-1.024, NH3/NH+4-.25, NO2- around.1 NO3-0, P-0, C-400
here is an updated pic, i think i will keep this set up. also i was thinking about getting a HOB over flow that would go into a 15 gallon what are your thoughts on this, or i would get a fluval 304 canister filter or a 405. i am going to get a skimmer but after my RO/DI system i was looking at the HOBs any ideas.
i even took out like 3 or 4 pounds of sand and made some different beds so gobys could have different spots to make burrows.

what would be a good substance of wire to make a mess lid?

thank you all for your help

Very nice aquascpe. The favia may or may not make it. Never known them to be extremely fast growers. All corals are aggressive in some way.

I would definitely recommend the HOB overflow and 15 gallon sump over a canister. You will be able to remove 1 or both of the HOB filters and move your heater out of the tank. This will also allow you to get a good submersible skimmer. Throw a baffle in the sump to keep the water level steady in the skimmer section.

As for LED strips, give www.buildmyled.com a look.

thank you so much. any good DIY ways to make the HOB overflow, at the LFS they are like 80 bucks.

I've seen them done out of PVC. No direct experience myself but they scare me a little and most are not quiet. $80 sounds about right. Guessing it was an eshopps (what I have). Maybe you can find a used one?
