20 long reef build

yea over here they are 59.99 wow sticker shock for a shrimp, i will pass on them. looking at getting a randalls goby, mc coskers, and a royal gramma fully stocked. i want to get a coral that can occupy that top shelf that i have, its in a high light (4" away from the top) with pretty high current, i was thinking maybe leather or some other flat light LPs

ideas?

Jeez shop around some, around here fire shrimp generally go for $25. If you want to keep it easier go with the leather for up high.

What type of leather do you think

Any should work. Duncans and euphyllia are another option if you kike movement. Lots of LPS woukd do ok there with a little light acclimation. Montipora would be an SPS option.

i will have a hammer somewhere else, i do like the looks of the montipora, but i not sure i can handle the sps

You can. Montis are not overly difficult and are more tolerant that you think. Just give the tank a little time to mature (6 months or so). Acros, I would avoid until you are more confident.

so i did not get any coral today, i got a tuxedo urchin, to guy told me that it might get rid of my diotom algae, and then he told me that i have dino algae and let me tell ya, that scared the crap out of me

Nothing that looks like dynos to me. Never known a tux to eat diatoms. Your tank is very new for an urchin. If you notice it losing spines, you should put some green nori in the tank for it to eat. These guys pretty much eat 24/7.

that what the man told me, i am keeping a close watch on him, so far so good. ok so for the past few days my favia coral has been doing very bad, a few polyps turned white, and just not looking good, all this started after i would feed brine or mysis. then i noticed that as soon as i would feed it, the peppermint shrimp would come over and steal the food from it, even after it was gone they would shove there pinchers into its mouth and steal food. i would guess they are injuring the coral, so i started to use a 2 ltr bottle top, i feed then cover until the food is all gone, i guess we will see if this works
pram ph- 8.0, kh- 11, ammonia-0, no2-0 no3-0, C-420, P-0. i am doing WC every 4 days, 4 gallons at a time to make sure no bad E can take hold, i also have started Phosgaurd, and carbon, until i can get an RO/di unit.
