230 Tank Build

20 Amp Service

Good Evening,

I finally have the basement filtration room wired. :shocked:

We (Dad and I) installed multiple (5) outlets on the back (cement) wall of the room on a dedicated 20 amp feed. The sump <pictured> will be position a couple feet out from this wall to allow my access to all sides and I'll be able to unplug individual devices (pumps, skimmer, heater, etc) as needed.

Making progress, albeit gradual. :headbang2:

P.S. please don't mind the mess (hanging wires) I did not feel like tacking them up today.

Hey Lover - No - that is an old stand I built several years ago for the 125 gal which sits atop it empty. I never set-up the 125 as a display, but now it (the stand) will serve as a slightly overdone sump stand. And, the 125 as the sump. Funny how things turn-out.

The stand for this project is painted to match the perpendicular wall and ready to be moved to its final resting place, so to speak, in the study/living room. Once placed I will put the final touches on it, e.g. baseboard, doors, bull nosing, etc. Unfortunately, our old fashion New England winter is preventing me from moving it from the basement.:nono:

Well the weather is finally cooperating enough that I was able to move the tank and stand from the basement to it's final resting place.

Up next, a bit of finish work on the stand, plumbing, and hood construction. Yahoo!

Wow! 10K that is great! I was only able to secure a 5K budget for this project when we began building our new hosue last year. Unfortunately, almost half of that (~1800) went to the display tank itself. Which is one reason why I am doing as much of this project DIY as possible.

You mean I was supposed to set a budget before I started my build?
Is as cheap as possible a budget?

Thanks, but it was an accident, I am not quite so gung-ho. :eek3:

That 125 was originally going to be a display tank so I made a stand to fit it, but then we were fortunate to build a new custom home so rather than sell them (the stand and tank), I decided to still use it all for the sump. With the stand being nice and tall it should help to decrease head pressure on my pumps, since it is all located in the basement.

I didn't forget about your top btw, but seeing your tank hooked up and all, we'll work out something nice!)
