I think everything I have seen has standard paradise fish as sub-tropical with temperature requirements in the 50s and 60s F range.
IME the domastic betta has higher temperature requirements than most other anabantoids.

I moved my betta that was in this tank to my divided 20 due to a betta suddenly passing away. I fed them and he was dead an hour later. So the 7.5 is bettaless. Tempted to give a wild type a try now.
I'm very sorry you lost your betta...but I am looking forward to what you do next...you always do a nice "next" no matter what has happened before...

Debating if I can get a wild betta from Dougall or order an alien betta. Planning on ordering a giant betta for my 40.
They are Betta occellata, you are totally welcome to one or two.. just not sure how well they would do in an aquarium less than a 10g.
But as long as you have a tight fitting lid with no gaps for them to jump through, let me know and can let you have some.

I don’t want to move the giant from the 10 gallon cause he is very active and the 7.5 is not big enough for him. He’s close to 3.5” now. I can put some over the opening for the filter.
