ABOUT CLAMS

im starting to get an aptasia problem i herd that a copperband butterfly will take care of the aptasia problem if it lives past two weeks. But i dont know if it will pic at my clam. I have a coral banded shrimp and therefor i cant get any peppermint shrimp plus i herd that they eat zoas.

MY CLAM WAS CLOSED FOR THREE DAYS AND I WAS GOING TO MOVE IT AND FOUND AN APTASIA STUCK TO ITS SHELL I THINK IT STUNG THE CLAM. I KILLED IT WITH SALT AND MOVED THE CLAM. THE CLAM IS STARTING TO OPEN A LITTLE BUT I GUESS ITS STILL RECOVERING FROM THE STING.

The copperband would be more of a threat to your zoas than a peppermint shrimp would. Depending on your tank size you might be able to get away with a few peppermints...I've seen it work when there are enough hiding spaces for territories.

peppermint shrim do not eat zoos.

maybey those yellow feathery ones, but those are just fancy aptasia IMHO

it is very possible
it's happened with mine, anyways.

Hi just chiming in. I would move the hammer further awayfrom the clam. Also i would put the hammer in the Live Rock and not the sand, it will be able to open more with the extra space without getting sand in the heads, and it will also get more light. It will also dispurse the eye focus of the tank making your aquascaping more aesthetic, just my opinion. Also, and i may be wrong as i do not have a clam, is that iodine does not do much good for the tank at all unless you have leather corals and even that is in question. Check out this link for begginers http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-04/rhf/index.php go to the iodine section. Just my opinion and the person who wrote the article lol!
