Well it looks like I've joined the rank of those who have had failed Stealth Pros. While doing a water change in my tank the other day, I noticed the water seemed a bit cool. Sure enough, it was down to 74 from the norm of 78-79. The heater light was green, so I turned it up a bit to see if it would come on. Nothing. I consider myself one of the lucky ones to have not had it explode or cook my fish. The number on mine is 01G31, and from a link on another forum, it looked to be included in the recall too.
So I spoke to Marineland and they are going to replace my 150w Pro. They offered to replace it with the glass style Visitherm and upgrade it to 200w, so that's what I'm getting. I have several of the glass ones and have yet to have a problem, so I think it was a good solution. According to the rep, the G & H lots were affected, but apparently only certain wattages. Mine was supposedly not included, but who knows how much they're willing to tell you:bs:.
Warning: Rant Ahead:rant2:! He did say that there had been quite the stir in the customer service department over all of the calls for the issues with the Pros. I do feel for them, too. They aren't the ones who made the decision to sell out and get cheap garbage from China. But they have to deal with the fallout from irate consumers, while those who did make the decision sit hunkered down in an office counting the bonus money. :angryfire:
