Bala Sharks & Convict Chichlids?

I am debating on which freshwater fish to get, i have an empty 30 gallon tank. I really like bala sharks! can anybody recommend suitable companions? would a convict chichlid be a good tankmate? can i even have any tank mates? replies would be appreciated! thanks

Unless you have a bigger tank or plan on getting one, the bala shark will need more room than a 30gal tank can give it, they can get really big 15+ inches

2 Convicts will be more suitable

bala sharks get huge and you will need a 150 gallon tank, at the very minimum, for a group. convicts though, can be kept in a 30 gallon with some fast, hardy fish like zebra danios

I dont really think you need a 150G tank to house Bala's, that said, 30g is definantly way too small. I think anything 100G on up is suitable for bala's.

Convict for sure. the bigger the better on bala. they will need their turning space and are active fish. i think also a schooling fish which should be kept in groups.

Iridescent Shark they get too big for a 30 gal also.

do they start really small, maybe 4 inches tho, because i could be getting them mixed up, or maybe the pet shop has them mixed up, which would not suprise me. maybe i.d sharks?
