anyone going to try this? Personaly I would have used concrete instead of wood. And fw instead of sw, a school of 12 oscars and a large arowana would be sweet !

Instead of that complicated pump setup he has, you could always just use 42.5 emperor 400's :D

Sorry it's late and I was wondering how many you'd need... Yeah, I'm bored

Sweet tank though, and I agree FW would be really cool. A school of Bala Sharks would be awesome in there... At that size of a tank, they might grow to 18" and if anyone here has been to shed's in sickago (chicago), they have a pair well OVER 18" they look to be about 2.5 to 3 feet.

They look so much more graceful when they swim at that size... wow.

Even with 150 you can never have a big enough aquarium. I just cant get making a big aquarium out of my head. By big I mean 1000+ gallons. It would be not as tall but really long, like
Length 168"
Wide 48"
Tall 36"
Over 1200 gallons and 10000 pounds of water.
An while iam thinking I might as well make two.

does anyone know how they heat thoes huge tanks? Do they just use alot of 300watt heaters ?

i would imagine something like "jacuzzi" heaters. my friends 250 came with a heater that looked like it was swiped from a hot tub. unfortunately he ran the compartment it was in dry and burned it out. after that the hack switched to a bunch of 200-250 watt glass heaters in the sump. ebo-jager actually makes a 300 too i believe.

that's a heck of a tank, i read the whole article too. it seems like a lot of work for it tho. there used to be a link from someone on p-fish or something that bought an 1100 gallon glass or acrylic. that tank was around 12 ft long i think. there was also a pic of some guy scuba diving in a 5000g floating around......

my biggest is only 90g tho.

True....

If the guy was really smart, he'd realize he now has an "at home business"..... He can now give SCUBA lessons! :D
