Bigest tank

I went to a "Fisharama" at the Ag Center. Two of the lure ditributers made a tank out of a 20 ft semi trailer. They put metal sides on it while in transport, but when they set it up it had glass sides approx. 25FEET long 10 Feet wide 6FEET deep. They cut the hooks off lures and let you cast them to see if the fish would react to em. Kinda neat:cool:

PS Nothin but bass and plants in those tanks:rolleyes:

His site is gone :( but mr4000.com used to be a guy who had a 4000g reef tank in his basement...

anyone going to try this? Personaly I would have used concrete instead of wood. And fw instead of sw, a school of 12 oscars and a large arowana would be sweet !
Forget the oscars and arowana. Imagine how many Neon Tetras you could fit in that sucker!!!:D

c'mon

isn't a tank that size a little much? how is someone gonna clean that and take care of it and where woul you keep it - just go to the aquarium if you have to see a tank that big

Well, for most folks it would be a little much, for college students anything bigger than 5g might be a little much. But if you've got the room, the time, and the dinero (I don't) then why not go for it. And it probably doesn't take any more time to clean one huge tank then a bunch of smaller ones. Apparently it was built in the basement and will stay there.

Heck, I'm still waiting to upgrade from a 10g to a 75-80g, but I think it would be cool to have the resources and time for a big daddy like that. Besides, where I live, the nearest big aquarium to "go to" is over 3 hours away.

I just read that entire article on the 1700. Amazing!! My 150 looks like mickey mouse compared to that. [/B]

Hey 125gJoe,
isn't this your next project?? Imagine this as a discus tank?? ;) Actually it would make a great amazon biotope, with discus, angels, neon, cardnial tetras, just to name a few.. this would be a fun tank to play with.

Hey, Joe, build it, and I will fly down to florida and help you set it up. ;)

But all in all, I would never knock this guy. As for tank maintence, yes, it would be a pain in the butt. Yet, he built the tank and seems pretty dedicated. If I built a tank like that, Boy I would make sure It was clean all the time and got the water changes needed.
Just imagine his satifaction sitting in the basement with the lights off with the only light on is on the tank, watching his tank in his favorite chair.
