CL Used Aquarium Pricing Guide

Although the powers that be in charge say the economy is doing great, I think the reality is the dollar is worth much less then even 4 years ago, like $0.50 now to 2008 $1.00 on durable goods and still falling. So its no wonder large tanks cost more and getting to the point that if you want anything over 50 gal your better off building one that at least 200 gal out of wood, steel and face glass using old storm door or display case glass. Used is still a good way to go because if your willing to wait with cash, a steal-deal always comes along to those that wait because no one seems to save cash on hand these days and used stuff sits. People these days rather use their credit card to buy new and barrow against their future then save up and buy something that is used for a fraction of the price. I know cause I used to be the same way.

There are a lot of tanks around here for sale at very high prices, but they don't sell. They stay on cl. There are Good deals, but they don't last long. I agree that $1 per gallon is a bit high until you get to the big tanks above 100 gallons. These are rarer so demand higher prices. I have also had Good luck posting the size that I want on a local Facebook garage sale and including what I will pay. I got a 75gallon with stand, light, tips, and fluval 404 for $125. Probably would not get near that deal on cl.

Well, I looked up what the price would be at retail, and have been asking half that, which I thought reasonable, since it's not really "used". It has never been set up. But, maybe I'm dreaming......any thoughts or advice?

wrong thread?
