CONFESSION! I FLUSH FISH!

how dare u flush fish they are living things too.

How dare you take medicine when you're sick, or use cleaning products around your house, or walk in the grass, etc... Don't bacteria or insects share the same right to life as the rest of us? Saying something like that, you sure as heck better be a vegetarian.

Let us not forget, every time someone has a tumor excised, they commit partways suicide!

I don't see why you can defend yourself by saying fish can't feel pain, you can't prove that anymore than we can prove they do, so why not be cautious?

If ethical rights change as society changes, I think we are closer to treating fish with respect in modern times than ever before...

On a very different application of rights changing with the times, many Americans thought it their ethical "duty" to take care of and keep their slaves. But we've come a long way.

And, I don't think showing compassion or respect has anything to do with the recipient knowing they are being violated...this would only apply in a human to human interaction. Not a human to animal interaction.

I have to completely disagree mich. If they didn't feel pain, how would they know to flee from discomfort or danger? Pain is a fundamental necessity for creatures of instinct, otherwise, they wouldn't have any idea what was harmful and what wasn't.

No, I think they DO feel pain. My point was that Rbishop seems to think they don't but when we say they do he says we can't prove that and that they don't feel pain, but he can't prove that either.

When I was culturing lung and liver malignant cells for pre-clinical cancer research I used to feel bad killing these tumor cells I'd grown from just a few cells of a previous passage. I got over it quickly when I remembered, oh yeah, they're cancer.
