Couple questions...

clean up crews will scavenge from rock and sand, will certainly benifit from having food put in there for them though...

Air stone are not really needed, all you need is some surface agitation from a powerhead..

i noticed some tiny white dots on some parts of the tank. its very tiny and thers more in some spots than other spots. what do u think it is??

I have those all over my glass too. When I scrap the glass, they reappear nearly instantly. looks like little snowflakes. They are harmless.

Hey everyone. Its been a while but i was getting frustrated at how long this cycle is taking and i just got back from a week long trip. I tested the water today and the ammonia levels are still low (around .5) and the nitrite and nitrate levels are still very low. So i decided to go and buy a clean up crew so hopefully they can cause a mini cycle. Think this would help???

ive tried putting a piece of shrimp in there a while ago for a week but maby it didnt rot enough? what other "food" where u thinking?

hi my friend.

you can add the clean up crew. I think they'll survive 0.25 just fine.

your tank should have been cycled long long ago. hmmmm

ok so a couple days ago i added some "cycle" to the tank (its supposed to help speed up the biological process). Thanks Pallen, i thought it should have cycled a while ago as well. But what ever i guess. Let nature take its course. I just want to add some life to brighten up my room. lol Im not as anxious to add life as i was when I first started tho.

yeah, go for it. Whatever life you add will also add some ammonia etc. This will also help get that live rock going. the good bacteria needs ammonia to eat and reproduce anyway.

I'd add some life forms by now. Clean up crew. Some sort of fish. I really think the tank is fine by now.
