Does anyone keep Cyrtocara Moorii with Mbuna?

I had 5 front's and 6 brichardi in my 120gal and it was ok yours is 92gal correct i would say you may get by with 3 of them for a small colony with a few smaller Tangs specimens.

cool man i hope it works out for you..

Cheers Pittbul. I'm still in two minds over it.

I was really happy with our Malawi stocklist.

IF...and it is a big if, IF I was to go with a trio of Fronts, what could I keep with them? Preferbly something smaller, yellow maybe that likes rocks and crevices.

Cheers for the help as always. I just don't know. Can't belive I've got cold feet on the Malawis!

Just so you know Pittbull, I'm leaning back towards the original Malawi setup we had finalised.

BUT...would still like to investigate what I could keep with a Trio of Fronts that would not be eaten, and would love the smaller gaps and crevices I've created.

ps. Putting side background back in tomorrow and filling up again friday. Hopefully will get filters on then too (at least one of them anyway!), heater in, and can begin cycling. All this cycling, I'm no Lance Armstrong...OR Chris Hoy.

hehehehe Chris Hoy..

The first thing that pops in my mind is the Lelupi either orange or yellow variety will be nice and they attain about 5" and are great rock crevice swimmers..

Another choice would be the sexfasciatus with their stripes and yellow bodies but they are more of an open swimmer hover over a rock pile type fish..

But hey buddy you have to come to terms aye its so hard but just go buy another setup aye hehehe..

Getting some feedback from other forums (oh no, I cheat on AC:evil_lol:)....

They say possibly two problems with the Fronts and Lelupi...

1. The Lelupi might be too aggressive for juvenile Fronts.
2. Fronts might eat the Lelupi when they get older.

Some say no problems at all, others certain about it. Obviously my friend has this mix and he said no problems, but he has like a 50ft tank, well it's big anyway.

Yep agreed with all of that info and sure it will be a hit n miss situation your fronts may very well leave others alone and focus on each other and or eat your fish, when i had mine i kept mine pretty much fed and weren't a problem i had Lelupi's and Brichardi's with mine and never an issue will you have an issue with one you may or may not..

Here is older photos of my Lelupi and Brichardi with my Frontosa

What about Cynotilapia afra? Cobwe and Jalo Reef variants have beautiful blue and black males with some yellow. Females are not so colorful, but you can have a few males in a tank with a size as yours. In general, they are much less aggressive than Ps. demasoni or even Ps. saulosi; as I have heard from experienced friends.

This was my exact suggestion. You can also get different Cyno species that really vary in color.

cool deal i miss the malawi's aye and you cant go wrong i am going to get some afra jalo reefs here soon i am setting up a new tank yay

Oh Man!

Heard 3 loud bangs in the night. Nearly messed my bed.

It was the side background again. First it had pulled up my pump for the undergravel jet system, then it had kncoked a rock over, and then it had banged the rim of the tank.

This thing is incredibly buyuont. Basically, it's a thick peice of Polystyrene. Cut to 600mm high, about 1.5ft in length, and 1.5" thick. I had glued 8 large pebbles to it and it still floated. Then I'd used the same epoxy to glue it to the glass in large lumps. Still floated.

I can't leave it how it is, need it on there.

So...next course of action is to try and reduce the area of the background by trying to make it thinner or cut it into strips or something so it's not such a large and powerful single force.

Grrr...

ps. You have MTS dude.:evil_lol: This is my second tank, but I'm gutting the first to use it has a hospital tank for this bad boy. Shame, raised some Silver Dollars in there since thet were just glints in the eye.

HEHEHE i would too.. be like where my gun at..

I do have a couple of MTS and a few Malaysia snails as well but they haven't established themselves yet.. do you need some i can get them for like a quarter..

Will that stuff get water logged or do you have to anchor it.. if you have to anchor it maybe try a large rock up against the bottom of it to keep it in place..
