first tank ever. 12g mini-reef.

woah. did you see him in that pic? he was actually right on the underside of the "bridge" towards the right. he's in the pic but not focused on him makes it impossible to spot. i like how they're so interested in humans too. everytime i look at him, he comes moves towards me! if i were to put my fingers on the glass when he was stationed on the outboard of the left rock, he'd try to touch me with his antennae. prob mentioned his, but i stuck my hand in afterwards to see how it felt. he likes me, and his tank. he's already molted, which i hear is good sign of water quality? or at least iodine levels or something... :D

my sand turns brown every day. must be this "brown algae" they call diatoms which is normal to new tanks, especially when using tap water. that's my understanding anyway -- that it's expected and will go away with age. i hope so! especially now that i'm using filtered water for water changes. hope there isn't such as thing as too much water changing... thinking 2 gallons twice a week right about now.

Just read the whole thread. Nice progress. Please update often.

skimmer

I ordered a Fission Nano Skimmer online the other day. My guess is it'll be here Tuesday. Going to see if these things really fit under the AquaPod's hood and if they produce any results. I've read some mixed reviews. They're small, and do little, but it's better than nothing and for $30 the price is right.
