How do you make your footprint lighter?

Maybe it doesn't matter much on a long term timescale, but that is sort of a nihilistic point of view that should be a moot point.
what do you mean by this? what exactly does nihilistic mean?

kuhli- socks inside or out? do you mean socks inside out or rightside in?

but wait, so theres scientific evidence that the earth is supposed to be in a cooling period, but it isnt cooling because of our pollution and the greenhouse gases and whatnot?
how many people disagree with this theory? is it even a theory? it must be a theory, right? how many theories are there?
im feeling very inquisitive, and this is seeming kind of conspicuous.
idk what to believe. i wish i was a scientist.

Yes.
There isn't much to disagree with. They have graphs with well substantiated evidence saying these things. Scientists are in concurrence on global warming. There is no controversy-it's just people tooting their horns and trying to pretend as if there is. There were actually people forging and twisting data in the bush administration to fudge environmental facts, until there was a huge outcry about it that thousands of scientists spoke out against. You can look it up. The columbia web page links to a lot of information. Yale is conservative, they are yale, and I linked to what they have to say, too.

Whoops: Nihilism argues that existence is pointless and futile, and attempts to create an angst about it. Aka, what's the point in doing anything? Why don't we just die?

I'm not going to just die. There is a ton of stuff for me to have fun with and things that will make me grow and make life completely worth it, even if the sun is going to engulf us all in the future. Similarly, arguing that whatever we do is pointless and meaningless is pointless and meaningless when it comes to global climate change. So, we're just going to push the earth into a period of mass starvation and die off, with a bonus destruction of future generations, because on a global time scale it won't matter? Not to mention the fact that no other species really had a say in the matter. There are plenty of reasons the global ecosystem is worth saving, not in the least because it will save something amazing and save us.

favorite brand of hotdogs?

Vienna's ~not only a Chicago brand, but the casing gives it a bit of a snap and really holds the juices in, compared to Oscar M.

is it too late though? i mean.. for us to be seeing these drastic changes with the climate of our whole planet..
we brought it on. it kind of reminds me of like..
**** i cant think of the example im looking for.. like temites causing a mansion to fall to the ground.. no thats not it
but all the small things combined that weve done over time had a huge effect on the earth.. considering we are so small and the earth is pretty big(compared to us)
wouldnt it take drastic measures and a long time to stop this? is it even possible to reverse the global climate change and get the earths natural cycles back to normal?
im not nihilistic, i just think nobody knows enough to not be kind of nihilistic(if you take off that "Why dont we just die?" bit at the end of your definition. in regards to global climate change im talking. but i suppose if scientists are sure that the earth isnt working in its natural cycle right now because of us(and actually doing the opposite).. then my thoughts have changed.. like they have already a billion times from this discussion lol.
my conclusion in all of this is that we should be concerned about global climate change(which is indeed a much better term than global warming)
do they call it global warming in the media to make people more afraid of what effects it will have? i hate the media. it would be much better to call it global climate change if this is the case because a lot of people are thinking"well this winter sure was a cold and snowy one, so much for global warming" and brushing it off.

It's not too late. The planet is very sensitive in the longterm to stuff like this, but there is a reason both Democratic(I don't know about Mcain? He might have) say they are going to cut emissions drastically by 2020. We have to convince the developing countries to cut back on emissions- both China and India put out more than us. I don't know where the term global warming came from, honestly. It may originally have even be scientists(though I hope not :/). We can't remove the C02 from the air(or methane..cows release a lot of methane...lol) but we can definetly make a difference at this point in the game.

it seems like the people with lots of money don't believe in climate change, and the main middle people or below feel passionatley about it. sorry if this sounds stereotypical but it's just what i've noticed.

Wow...in my experience I have found just the opposite!

And, btw, I do believe in global climate change being accelerated somewhat by human activity, and I do believe in doing reasonable things to help reduce our carbon footprints, but I think these things need to be done in balance of other important considerations.

yeah same here. theres a lot more to it.. atleast with the giant machinery companies and whatnot.
we still can do little things though.. but i think its the big changes that need to be made. we need to find a way to make those changes and not to have a million ripple-type effects.

i don't get why organic vegetables are more expensive if it takes money to spray them with the stuff.

SchizotypalVamp, your confusing me, your saying things about both sides, whats your overall oppinion?

Smaller farms producing the goods. These small farms don't receive the cost saving effect of large distribution and tend to have a larger labor cost due to being more hands on and less machine harvesting.
