Awesome tank, wow. You can see some (bad) pictures of mine
here. The water's clearer now, there's a strip light, and there are a few more individual perching places, and two more mollies. I needa take more pictures now but my camera's broken.
I'm impressed by how clean and clear your set-up is, what with it being so full and complex. I have some questions if you don't mind!
1. How is your PH? I have aragonite sand in my tank, because I was told you want to keep the PH a bit above neutral for mudskippers. But I've also now been told maybe the reason I can't keep any live plants alive in there is the PH. I really want plants! I had java moss, water wisteria, and watersprite all die on me and I'm pretty sure I did everything right. I'm trying some healthier-looking java moss now so we'll see what happens.
2. Do you have algae problems? I get green and brown algae growing on everything. I don't have the problem so bad in my community tank because it doesn't have a light but also because there are snails and a pleco taking care of the glass. How harmful is algae to my kids?
3. How do you keep the substrate clean? When you do maintenance, do you take all the rocks and wood out to clean under them? I find the bottom of my tank, especially under the decor, collects a lot of debris. Hopefully this'll get better now that the LFS lady told me I have been over-feeding the tank.
4. Do you think one cube of frozen food is enough for 6 of them in a day?
Thank you so much, again. I know a lot about mudskippers biologically, but even with all the research I did, and my wonderful resource
Frank, I keep finding new questions as I'm keeping them in my home.
Oh, and my roommates and I spend a lot of time watching them too. They're kind of mesmerizing!
