I'm leaning on the Red Phantom side this hour....
Great, now I'm even more confused. That link talked about the color on the tail...my guy definitely has some black on the tail...leading me to lean more toward Serpae then Phantom.

I'll have to study it in person a lil more when I get home from work.

go back and reread that bit. he talks about the phantom not having any black on the anal fin, not the tail. plus one of the links I posted earlier showed a red phantom with a black tail ;)

Oops, my bad! :duh:

Still learning the fin names, I get them mixed up sometimes.

I know the feeling. one day I was reading up on rams and they were talkign about the caudal fin and I was like what the heck is a caudal fin?! so after grabbing my little fish book from the bookshelf I kinda had one of those "DER!" moments when I realized it was the tail fin :duh:

I'm still going with the Black Phantom…

…Hyphessobrycon megalopterus. That puppy is on the money.

With the better fin shot I'm on the Rosy Barb side on 4. The pointy dorsal was throwing me.

Wow, that pic is RIGHT ON. That's definitely my fish, whatever that pic is.

ok so not to sound too retarded here, but are you certain that's a black? I mean, that looks a heck of a lot like the pics of a red I posted a page ago, and down at my LFS they had black phantoms that had black anal fins, as opposed to the red anal fin. I suppose it could be a color variance, but it's just too weird that the same fish would be both the black and red pahntom at the same time ;)

I dunno. my vote is the red (oh, you think so? I mean, you've been pitching that one for alike a page and a half!), but if that pic is indeed a black I would change over to that. I'm just confused since now I've see nthe same fish for 2 different names :hang:

How good is that LFS though? Mine mislabels stock on a fairly regular basis...drives me nuts!!! :mad2:

carpguy's pic is definitely what I have...question is, where did he find that pic and is the source reliable, or is it mislabeled?!?
