ID new fish

I've never owned Boesemani's so I can't comment. I do know they cannot be with any other torpedo shaped fish (as they are) that are bottom dweling, as they will harass them. Ive had the experience myself. The only thing they didn't bother with was the plecos as far as bottom feeders. Any other fish (which would include your Boesemani), I would think they'd be ok with. They never bothered any of mine... and that includes Angels.
I've never had sharks, unless you consider SAEs to be sharky (are they?).

However, one thing you need to consider is that your Boes are pretty young and small for the most part. Three months of age or so, right? I'd excercise caution about putting an unknown in with them. If you can wait a couple of months until they get some size and then try it, I'd advise that.

I think #1 kinda looks like it might be related to a bleeding heart tetra, except the heart is black :duh: it also kinda looks like a red phantom, but nto as red ;) maybe I'll swing past petsmart on my way home tonight and see for sure.

I just saw that exact fish in out petsmart here over the weekend, and I thin kthat's what they had it labeled as, but I can't remember exactly (I had a few beers that night ;) )

4 - NOT GOURAMI :) ...Probably Rosy Barb (Carbguy, why Tetra?)
It looks a lot like a Rosy barb right up until I get to the fins: the fins don't seem barb-ish to me. Here's a fish that I saw identified as a rosy barb color morph (no dot), it looks a lot like your fish but the fins are different…

I just looked at a pile o tetras and their fins look different too, so I'm going agnostic. Certainly could be a barb, fins (esp dorsal) look a little off to me.

Correct, actually quite a few fish shops have those in with and sell them as bleeding hearts. I have one that came with a bunch of bleeding hearts, I am pretty positive that #1 is a red minor tetra.
Take care,
Mary.

Good idea. I've had them for just under 2 months, so yeah, they're still young. They're big enough that I don't THINK there would be a problem, but better safe then sorry!!

The CAE is definitely staying out of the Boes tank. Period.

The Rosy Barbs and Striped Glass Catfish are both schooling fish (I only got two of each), so they really SHOULD be in groups of 6. I don't want to crowd the middle swimming area in either the 55g or the new 29g though. Best option would probably be to get rid of one or the other or both, but I don't wanna offend the person I got them from. Hmmm, decisions.

It's a tetra, not a barb. You were right the first time, Carpguy. Look at the body shape and the dorsal. Barbs don't have pointed dorsals, tetras do.
Photo is a little misleading though...the dorsal fin is bent toward the camera...making it look pointed, but I don't think it is. I think it's rounded. I'm pretty sure it's a Barb...definitely has that black splotch on the tail just before tail fin like a Rosy Barb.

Sorry I don't have a better pic right now.

Number 4 is definately a rosy barb..got some right now...there is no black spot on the tail - its an air bubble in the picture...and the fin is not pointed..it's in motion, and deflecting towards you in the picture...

seems like red minors are more red (like all over their bodies) than that one in the picture though. I know i've seen one just like it over the weekend though so I'm goingto check and see what they have it listed as on my way home or this will bug me all night! :duh:
