Jay's Planted 180g Tank.

Love your tank, it's just beautiful! I just bought a 40b I decided to to a planted tank.
This gives me the umph to plan it out and start. There is a small fish in there, red on the back
fins and looks like yellow in the front, what fish is that? Keep up the good work!

Love that tank!

Love this tank, keeps me working on mine.

beautiful tank! How many bps of co2 do you run? And try for more cardinals, your tiny school seems lonely, lol

Thanks all.

Unseen... believe it or not there are 25+ Cardinals, 30+ fire green tetras, 20+ rummynoses, but only 3 black neons (use to be 25but didn't make it past quarantine) among cories, busynoses, RCS etc. so for right now the plan for the last additions are more Discus. (The original groups of rummynoses and cardinals are over 5 yrs old and the numbers have been slowly dwindling which is where the green tetras came in.)

Your tank is awesome. I have just restarted my 120gal tank. I have had an oscar and 4 dempseys and eel in there for 6 years. Then in Oct here in the north we were without electric for over a week, and they all died. Have now started with planted community tank and I love it. Your tank is an inspiration. I can only hope mine is half as nice as yours and I will be happy.

Forgot your original question the Co2 is a 20# going to a Mazzie on Milwaukee ph controller so I haven't count bubbles in a few years but it cranks out fast. I also depend on my Co2 drop checker (probably more than I should) which has 30ppm indicator solution. I prefer visual indicators and my needle value is a bit sensitive not the best in the world original that came with the milwaukee regulator.

I believe you are referring to these little guys in my tank the green fire tetras.

Oh wow, really? Where are they hiding in those pictures? lol. sneaky little fellas

They don't school much hopefully that will change when the larger Discus go in there but they easily can disappear in the bush...LOL

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. If you are armed with the right information their is no reason why you couldn't create an awesome tank I'm no expert by any means. I think it is important to keep a journal so you document your progress an see how your tank changes as you develop your aquarium keeping skills. I get a laugh remembering my 120g with fake silk plants....lol

Haven't been on AC for a while and just went through your whole thread! Great job! You followed the right path and definitely picked out some beautiful plants. I saw a little hair algae in certain places.. I would buy a small group of siamese algae eaters (Crossocheilus siamensis) Keep up the great work!:headbang2:

One of the best I have seen in a long time...great job

Thank you.

Thanks.

I tried the Siamese algae once before bought 5 about 2" turns out they became quite territorial toward each other until only 1 survived and that was in a 120 gal tank. They also get big the one I have left is in my planted 90g and about 5" not to mention the algae thing only last when they are young as an adult they only go after food, if you go between feedings longer they may still graze I guess. I have japonica, RCS, ottos, and Bushynose as the algae cleaning crew in the 180g. I have bba and noticed spot green algae now that I'm dosing again but nothing crazy haven't seen much hair algae. I ran out of Excel so I haven't been spot treating the BBA and since I'm tinkering with my filters it hasn't been a focus to be honest but I keep up the good fight...
