Jay's Planted 180g Tank.

Thanks Jay. It'll be interesting to see how it does for you.

I moved my b.aubertii & trimmed/thinned the jungle vals that were shading it so maybe it'll be happy now. This is my second try...

Let me know how that works out for you. Mine only seems to thrive when I have Co2 it's actually as a couple of buds to flower I noticed today.

I just had to laugh a little. It looks like you have 1 or 2 MTS in that tank. Can you believe that I can't seem to get a population established in my big tank? I've got a couple of 10 gallon QT/growout tanks lousy with them but they never seem to make it in the big tank.

For my big swords I've figured out how to prune them back. I strip off all of the lower leaves of the plant. They take a pause to heal for a bit and then start tossing out large new leaves. They look really narrow for a while until the grow for a bit then they spread out. I'd hate to even guess what tangled mess the root balls are like now. It seems to be keeping them in check. The only one this doesn't work with is the E. bleheri. I've found that with these it's best to just clip off when they start shooting for the top and replace with one of their offspring.

THE V - If you are ever in need of MTS you are more than welcome to as many as you like. =)

I took a few more pics forgot the full tank shot though.

Not sure if I've mentioned this here but my Columbian Tetra have spawned in this tank.

I've only managed to ever see one at a time but it's alive and well able to dodge fishy with larger mouths

Well unfortunately my 180g took a dive due to neglect. It got so bad I was filling buckets (a david's sunflower square bucket for reference since it is literal) with hair algae and cladophora at least 2x and then a few softball size clumps for weeks after.

-Got my Co2 refilled and cranking with Atomize
-Increased light
-Fertilizing - I finally decided to take on my battle with new city water since we've now been in the house of a year.
-Siphoning out mineralized soil - Since it was disturb during the move nothing was where it was suppose to be so I'm gradually cleaning it up at water changes which is slow but effective.
-Scaping - I'm even giving this a shot although I lost many of my plants and only have a few species I guessing the scaping will be short lived and I'll start collecting again =)

It's already showing signs of life in the short month I'll see if I can get before after pics up.
