Mafia 92: Night of the living Mafia... the play

I just want to say first congrats FF on your job! I remember being excited about my first job too. Don't forget to vote before you head in to work though... just because you have an excuse does not make you untouchable for Bala. Second, I think it's in poor play to list an excuse as to why you will not be here though... it's great that you have a job and all, but come on. You've played enough Mafia games to know that an excuse as one of your first posts is incredibly scummy..... however, that said, I don't recall you using the best judgements in most games I've been with you.

ok, I am reading through here but something is not clear to me. Everyone is talking about the zombie hits before the next nightfall and for them to be using their hits wisely and all but maybe I am just not getting it.... I think Noods had it right though.... when turned into a zombie, the zombies don't form a team... they make their hit and then they are done. How would they have any kind of strategy or anything like that?

I don't think there will be any strategy on the zombie team but rather just leaving it up to one person and hoping they get it right although at that point there really isn't much on the line for the zombies.

So, correct me if I'm wrong JB, the zombie team wins basically by stealing the win from either the town or mafia? If so then I guess my original thoughts stand seeing as the zombie would win as a separate "group" and not alongside the town or mafia.

I agree that the the player who now has the option to hit someone based on a gut feeling should think long and hard about whether or not it is worth it. However, Since they do not have any connection to a particular team but the zombies, I would hate to see someone go easy in a game like this. If I were to be linched and had the option of hitting someone to help the zombie team, I'd take it but that's just me. Just some open advice, any zombies who decide to use their hit should pay very close attention to the next days events.

Ummm, two questions...

1) The zombies' only part in the game is to use their one hit the nightfall after they are lynched and then they are done, so why should they "pay very close attention to the next days events"?

2) Why would you want to give any advice at all to the zombie team?

I am here. Should have real Internet by tomorrow at 4 pm (providing Comcast comes on time).

Game is off to a very rapid start, not sure what to make of it.

Now i haven't played in a while, and I know that other games have gone on since my last, but I don't really think we should consider FF to be a "noob" making "noob mistakes". he has been in the game long enough to know what to say and how to. how long do we just dismiss the "bad judgement"?

First off, congrats on the job but am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy in this statement?

I agree that eary in the game OMGUS and gut feelings tend to be less than spot on but I wouldn't count on every gut feeling to be "less than favorable".

No OMGUS between games! :lipssealedsmilie:

Thank you JB that helps a lot!

Just some of my thoughts...
The zombies are in it for the zombies alone after they are lynched. I'm not sure why they would need "advice" as to who to hit and who not to.

Looks like I missed the roll call. Anyway, I'm here too.

so... who blocked me for that 2 week period? lol, I have a nice little list of people I could hit :D

why would you carry over a grudge list from one game to the next? seems senseless and anti town.

Noods, what FF referred to has nothing to do with mafia games but I agree with your "senseless" part of the comment. Doesn't need to come into this game at all, IMO.

FF, you've got no one to blame for that but yourself. I hope you learned what you needed and will simply move on from there.

Good game, everyone

I agree with those who've said a zombie win wouldn't amount to much.... IMO. It's more of a spoiler element or win-by-default thing among dead townies who couldn't avoid getting themselves lynched in the first place. No strategy or any of the other finer points in the game that I strive for whenever possible. Can't say for sure but I'd probably be more enthusiastic over the zombie part if they could chance an anti-mafia hit attempt one night after getting killed by the mafia instead of dying from the town lynch. In terms of sheer number/odds, the zombies will likely become more of a scattered rag-tag 2nd mafia team aiming against townies more often than killing scum.

All in all, the zombie discussion was still good. Those hits will be a major wild card factor in this.... talking it over has also got people talking and cleared up some confusion about the format. I just hope we don't get stuck on the topic.... we could get sidetracked with it, which could help the mafia even more.

I hear what you're saying Mad but if an innocent Townie is killed they are no longer on the Town's side...they are on the Zombie team and should try to help the Zombie team win.

At least that's what JB's clarification leads me to believe. With that said it would probably be easier (due to typical game numbers) to kill off mafia than to kill off all the innocents. Then as you described before it may not be easy to tell who's who early on. I would not hold it against a zombie to kill someone on the innocent team in order to give the zombie team the win. That's not helping the mafia it's helping the zombies.

If someone is "A win is a win, regardless" type person, then I guess they may turn on the town for possible zombie win. Somebody who actually enjoys the battle of wits, though, is not going to find much to cheer about by becoming zombified and turning on the town just to win for the zombies.

IMO there's the possibility for an honorable zombie win and a not-so-honorable zombie win.

So, correct me if I'm wrong JB, the zombie team wins basically by stealing the win from either the town or mafia? If so then I guess my original thoughts stand seeing as the zombie would win as a separate "group" and not alongside the town or mafia.

Based on JB's clarification, that is correct.

Agreed, and now I'm done. Consistently lynching scum late in the game makes it a non-issue.

Interested in hearing Razz's response to Pappy regarding giving advice to the zombie team, especially since being clarified that the zombies can only steal a win.
