MSNBC seems to care less

Exactly. No need to make things up that aren't even possible, just be there for the people. I hope the president stays down there to do what he can. I'd like to see him address the city, or portions of the city at least.

I have always wondered what good it serves for the president to go to a disaster scene. I'm not just refering to this one. I mean it looks good and may help morale, but I don't think he's going to rescue anybody or micro-manage the situation. Perhaps, if he sees it up front and personal, it will light a fire inside of him to do more, quicker.

I also find this interesting and here is the link:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/09/02/katrina.world/index.html

"In the Netherlands, much of which lies below sea level as in New Orleans, there was some consternation that the Louisiana city was so poorly prepared, AP reported.

The nation installed massive hydraulic sea walls known as the Delta Works after devastating floods in 1953."

No, the President never goes to these sites to "help" physically. I believe mentally though, he can help more than he knows. And certainly, it should boost morale. If anything, it will let the people of New Orleans know that he is aware of the situation. Remember, they have no TV or radios for the most part.

So, how do they know he's there?

At any job I have ever worked I have always found it better if management stayed off the floor and just managed the resources. I think he could do the most good at a logistics center using the pull of his office to move obstacles out of the way.

I think this is the point. If people see him there it shows he cares. No t that he doesn't care if he didn't go, but that he is SHOWING it. You can look at pirctures all day, but untill the human mind is allowed to see, smell, experience something you can't quite grasp the magnitude of the problem.

Interesting that his visit was timed with the arrival of military help. If anything, it's a good photo op.

That is another thing I never quite got a handle on. :)

I have never be horse whipped but I can truly imagine the problem I'd have with that. I don't need to smell hundreds of rotting corpses to grasp the problem.

I think Pres. Bush has had the hardest presidential time ever. So many things have been happening in the last 5 years! I think he's been doing a pretty good job! Not everything is the Pres. fault. It could be other government people fault..and yes..it could even be the democrats...

Hmm, heres hoping this thread does not get into politics.. It is getting pretty close though.
