Nope, no betta...yet. Think I might get a male-female pair, depending on their compatibility with tetras. I fear that the tetras will fin-nip the betta to death. My sister had a petco/petsmart betta and it lived for 2.5 years!!! If I do get them, it'll be in place of the pair of pearl gouramis that I had originally planned on getting.
heh heh, I wanted to take a steady picture so I set my camera on the table top and pointed it upwards. It made for an interesting perspective.
I'm still new to real photography so I'm still playing around. But I really need a diffuser if I'm going to take aquarium pictures.
bummer... Would more plant cover give the bettas a chance? Because my tank is actually a lot more planted now. I got some free corkscrew val, wisteria, and some echino tellenus (grass-like plant). I might have to clear up some of the "grass" because my poor corys are lacking ground to scour. Thinking of adding some anacharis, hornwort, and watersprite. It's going to be really planted.
Well, in my experience, bettas are surprisingly shy outside their own species -- even the macho males. I'd only group them with rasboras or something dedicated to the bottom, like Kuhli loaches.
So I guess no Betta either unless my tetras decide to all croak. Guess I'll keep whatever I have in there for now. Also, I bought 5 ghost shrimp from Petsmart on Thursday night to test my tanks invert compatibility (I want to get a few RCS). There were 2 larger ones, 3 smaller ones. The two larger ones have croaked but the 3 smaller ones are still alive, whenever I see them. I'm guessing the stress got the larger ones. Oh well, they were only 30 cents each.
Yeah, I was never fond of the image backgrounds. Any color suggestions?
I bought some trapdoor snails from eBay and as a bonus, I got a bunch of free anacharis, (red?) cabomba, and what I think is hornwort. The cabomba is making me worried because I've read that it isn't the easiest to grow.
I also wanted to get my big java fern out of its tiny pot so I got a few rocks that were lying around the backyard. I cleaned off the rocks, tested them with vinegar, and attached the ferns to the rocks w/ some thread.
Sorry of the dirty tank. I'm really waiting on the new AC filter and I've really gotta get rid of the hair/thread algae growing in my moss.
That is hornwort in the upper and lower left corners, right?
Shy red-eye tetras hiding under the driftwood and the tail of one of my bronze corys. They never did that until I sorta cleared out a space under it for the corys. Now they hide down there all the time.
