I really gotta keep updating this post. I been fighting green hair algae for a few months. Finally got it under control, but I had to toss my old driftwood unfortunately and had to scrub my rocks a bit to remove the hair algae. I since then bought 4 Red Jungle Val and rescaped the whole tank. My dad gave me his ild Marineland Penguin 350 and just tossed that onto the tank to go along with my Emperor 400 filter. I think that’s more then enough filtration for a 55g.

Its still a work in progress, need a lot more plants and wood(thinking of branches with moss). I threw in a fake jellyfish just for fun, till I get what I want.

I removed the fake jellyfish and put in two pieces of wood in the center of the tank. The fish seem to enjoy it, the shark, loaches and ram pick at the wood. Put another anubias into the tank. Growing out some in my 6.5, spilt up one into 5 separate plants. I removed the platys and added 2 more kuhlis, which helped my other 2 to come out more.

Here’s one of my Keyholes, they hide when I’m taking pictures. But normally are actively looking for food.

My stubborn old Ram, he’s more active and personable in this tank then when he was in my 20 long.

My twig catfish, he was 3x smaller when I got him. He quickly became my favorite fish, next to my pictus cat And Keyholes.

One of the first fish in this tank when I reset up this tank months ago. Tank was set up originally a few years ago, only fish that remain from the original set up are the black neons and single neon.

Your tank looks nice!!

Remove that couple pale val leaves next time your hand is in the tank. They don't come back & don't come off the main plant easily. It just needs a finger & thumb nail pinch...or a pair of scissors. My old val leaves never die...but they do grow BBA eventually, yuck!
