we have a lfs the has a huge one in a 125g tank and its way to big for that is about 3 and ft in diameter and can't lay flat or turn this is wrong for them to be in tanks even the biggest tank is too small for them have any of you seen them in the wild how really big they can get?
we have on over the high wall that is the size of a semi tire.... they get huge and they should really be left in the wild,..
yes very cute but very wild,..

A semi tire? I think maybe you're exaggerating a bit... I'm fairly certain common snappers don't get that large. Alligators might?
I must agree, though, that keeping them in captivity long-term is not really all it's cracked up to be. In the proper set-up, I don't think it's harmful to the turtle, but it can be harmful for the owner. You wouldn't believe the 'strike zone' on these turtles, especially as they grow. Have fun transferring it from tank to tank and trying to do maintenance on your tank...

no not really it was I'm sure a fluke of nature but he was there over a high wall in a strip mine pond,..
people through their tired there to get rid if them and there were truck tire in there, and i saw a tire moving and it was a snapper,.. he had his very own giant lake with all the fish he wanted to eat and he couldn't get out and be hurt as where it was in the woods,.. so he just grew and grew,.. haven't been back there ia a few years,.. but I'm sure he was very old,..
and by the way i drive semis so i know what a semi tires is,.. just so you don't ask,..
i don't exaggerate unless i say its a joke,.. no joke here,..
most don't get that big because they are a risk if humans/or disease or other competition etc,.. but this guy was in Paradise,..
