New shots... SE Asian and African biotope tanks

very nice vader! how big is the ID shark?

Thanks evelyn and for checking out the progress. As I mentioned above, he's now at least 15 years and grew up in a 55 gallon tank  before I took on his care. Today, he's ~13-14 inches long and his growth curve has been forever stunted. The move up to this 125 gallon allowed him to significantly improve fin health and overall temperament, but the damage is (sadly) done. He's a great specimen and we look forward to many more years with him. That said, this is a great lesson for those who say, "I'll upsize my tank later". If you don't have the existing tank size to accomodate a specimen at full-size, the best option is to pass on the purchase all together. It seems that stunting results from cumulative and progressive environmental effects.

That's a beauty! I would love to setup a tank similar to that one day when I have the space and money

I like the look of the rock-work, but I would suggest interlocking some coral rock through the black and white rocks to give added crevices and height. You might be able to find some cheap on Craigslist. Tank's looking great though. What is your current stocking plan?

Thanks afro, I'm heading to the local spot where I picked up the holey to get some more later this week.

Ahhh the stock. I am committed to getting this done now.

Existing stock:

1) The polypterus (bichir) wild-card. He could eat anyone at anytime but so far he's been good

2) 3 Altolamp comp. Muzi 'Gold Head'

Ordered stock: I'm going to buy these from Dave's Fish in Tx.

3) 10 Cypro lepto. Malasa 'Blue Flash'

4) 3 Altolamp comp. Mwela 'Orange'

I figure this should make the rockwork interesting but not be hyper-territorial. The cyps should fill in the mid-tank area. I'd appreciate your last feedback before placing the order.
