Further info on Prime and the nitrogen cycle posted by another member.

It looks like my previous information wasn't completely accurate, sorry about that! :( According to that post prime should protect your fish from the ammonia, even though your test will show it, for up to 48hrs and your bacteria can still use that ammonia to colonize.

Oh, and thank you, you have gone above and beyond when it comes to assisting others! you are absolutely amazing, and have been very helpful! It's greatly appreciated.

Really glad things are looking up!

Not all snails are hermaphroditic but most "pest" snails are, which is usually what randomly pop up. Do you have a picture of the snail or can you describe what it looked like? Personally I like snails, they have some positive effects besides just being cool looking. :) If you are not over feeding and/or neglecting your vacuuming, snail populations will stay under control.

Thanks, just doing my part. :)

hmmm, this snail was absolutely TINY. it was pinkish/white, with a short fat spiral shell. that's really all i can give you until i find it again.

Look up ramshorn snails, if not that one try malaysian trumpet snails. Both would be "pest" snails. If it was absolutely tiny that of course means it is newly born and they aren't born alone.... If you don't want them you can just squish them as you see them or put a piece of bait lettuce in the tank over night and it the morning remove it with any hitch hikers, repeat. But they are good at cleaning up algae and uneaten food.
