Wow time goes by really fast! Over 2 months later I finally picked up those plants from StarStruck! I had some MAJOR hair alage issues with this tank. Long story short, hair algae killed some of the plants (it was growing crazily over night) but growth has majorly slowed so I added a bunch of plants to finish soaking up phosphates wherever they are coming from.
After 2 hours I got lazy & you can tell! I worked from right to left but the gap on the left is actually because I had the filter output there till I filled the tank and decided to just rip the spray bar off. It is packed and crazy in there but that's enough for tonight! Once things get rooted a little I will move it around & most likely cut down the variety of species.
Thank you StarStruck!!!!! It was great meeting you & you have lovely tanks!
1st photo is before
2nd is after, now I have a bucket of java fern & anubias leftover!
I'm proud that my plant contributions helped make such a great looking tank! Now I have a high standard to meet when I finally pick up that 33gal flatback hex of my own. :grinyes: Although my dad gave in so easily to the idea of another tank I'm wondering if I should go bigger and get some cichlids. I think that calvus from pet asylum is calling my name...
LOL Thanks! I know those black calvus were soooo nice! Tempting me to setup a Tang tank.
GO BIGGER! Always bigger, you have plenty of room in that house. If you are looking for another tank let me know your limits because I get tanks offered to me often, nothing crazy but I just passed up a few 55s & a 75.
I added my ember tetras from the shrimp tank. 3 hours of acclimation for a full 2 point Ph difference and they are doing great! Not quite as colorful as normal but that's to be be expected.
This is an absolutely GORGEOUS tank! I am sooo jealous. I'd love to do a project like this but I'm down at college and the limit is a 10g (even though I also brought my 5g puffer tank). Great work on the tank it definitely has paid off!
