Prisoners 'to be chipped like dogs'...

I saw this movie...it was linked to an exploding vial on Neurotoxin as the base of the spine...with GPS tracking and self-destruct at the push of a button...

Of course some guy on the inside thought it had gone too far and destroyed the control/tracking room...personally I think he was right.

i thought snake was dead......

I thought the TOS said that there are not supposed to no political discussions on here

Another fine line...Laws vs Politics. I was merely using the present laws to point out a flaw in another's blanket statement...Snuff the ******* that can't be rehabilitated, but give the guy/girl who made a mistake and can learn from it a chance to.

Its already going that way. The Homeland Security just released a plan for all drivers licenses to be turned in and rehanded out as a National ID card. You won't be able to fly without the card. The idea is that its almost like a passport used inside the country to track your travel.

SC and a few other states have already said they won't do it but were told to comply.

too weird...I just did a paper about an argument against National ID cards...I wouldnt think it would happen but just too weird.

Personally, I dont like it.

Insofar as it is proposed as a monitoring method for persons on remand or subject to supervisory orders e.g. curfews this is really just a question of technique as this principle is generally acceptable in most jurisdictions.

some countries (I believe in the UK and the USA) accept electronic tagging of both the guilty (prisoners on release temporary or early from prison, or for a period of supervision after release) and the innocent (persons at liberty on bail pending trial). This itself developed from an older method of keeping tabs on people in those categories, that of requiring them to report to their local police station at specified intervals.

Insofar as it is proposed as a way of keeping order on persons simply in prisons, there is no basis in logic for it imo - i fail to see what would be achieved by electric tags on every prison...in a well run prison it is generally believed necessary to know where each prisoner is :D

I was originally going to post further along the lines of 'anyone who thinks the rest of us are next is a scaremongerer...I mean come on...who's going to force you to get some kind of microchip which tracks your activities and location etc...your employer or someone'....and then I thought...ummmmmm...yup...your employer...governments couldn't because it would be serious breach of human rights...but if you sign up to it 'voluntarily' i.e. because you have to get/keep your job...and that is probably where the threat is - private sector as opposed to public.

Im sure there has to be a breach of employment law there somehow. that just screams lawsuit to me

The only time my employer needs to know where I am is during my work hours. If I'm away from the desk for more then 5-10 minutes and it isn't my lunch break, then chances are a reprimand is in order...and so many strikes and you're out.

Of course, some jobs require you to be "on call"...Those jobs suck, especially with an employer that thinks your time isn't valuable.

well nobody can 'make' you do such a thing, as I said, a law requiring it would be unlawful/unconstitutional in UK/USA/Ireland, most any country with a developed legal system.

but what an individual is 'willing' to agree to is entirely a matter for him or her self...back in the day people thought that compulsory drug testing for employees could never be enforced (bar those in positions of significant public importance e.g. amubulance drivers) and we have that now too...why ? because people sign contracts on the dotted line which make it a matter of agreement between the two parties to the contract of employment.

LOL, talking about drug testing....in our paper last summer when the carnival was coming to town, it said "help need, drug and background check required" I had to laugh cause you know ppl always assume carnies are druggies, criminals, and everything else..it just looked so funny to read it.

"I'm sorry sir you've tested negative for all narcotics and have no previous convictions. That together with your moderate social drinking habits makes us concerned that you may not adjust positively in our organisation"
