Quick review of the 9 Watt submersible UV generic sterilizer & replacement bulbs

CWO4GUNNER

USN/USCG 1974-2004 Weps
These submersible sterilizers are sold under common brand names for allot more money then the generic name brands. I have been using these $26 generic name brand units for about 6 months now phasing out more more expensive and propitiatory "Green Killing Machines" who's replacement bulbs cost $24 and non-watertight circuitry box is susceptible to moisture electric failure. These new submersibles are all-in-one self contained unit, water tight secure using just 1 silicone O-ring with a much stronger motor and larger impeller blade that can be adjusted for flow using an injection air-valve which doubles as an aerator-powerhead. The UV bulb is large and has a clear visible window indicator to let you know it needs replacement. The performance is impressive as the 100 gallon tank which faces a northern window will be free of algae using the UV and then months later when the bulb fails I will notice unusual algae growth before noticing the indicator is no longer lit and that is with using a wall timer set to 12 hours-ON and 12 hrs OFF the bulb last me 6 to 8 months. The replacement bulbs cost $10 shipped from HongKong (best price) and arrive in about 2 weeks well packed and ready to plug back in and operate in 1 minute. NO more inside and outside components with multiple control box/transformer wire connections. This unit is compact all-in-one esy to remove and replace with a very secure 4 suction-cup base that it slides in and out of so there is no fussing with removing suction cups.

Below are who I bought the unit and bulbs from.

When I bought mine I made sure the bulb number on the metal base that describes the characteristics load, ballast, model matched mine. You can see the number ZW9D12W-H145. I tested it momentarily unshielded and it was a very bright blue buzzing light that made my eyes sore for a moment. Anyway it works great so I think I'm going to order more bulbs from HK. I like the fact that you can adjust the pump flow using the air valve from 50 to 150 GPH and that the nozzle can be pointed.

Hey Gunner did the replacement bulbs you got have the marking on the base like the picture? I just got 2 bulbs from your link and they sent me 2 bulbs with no marking on the base and the box has 220v written on it. I getting kind of *&%$&* off about getting new bulbs for this thing. its now two pairs that wont work.

Each bulb came in little white boxes. I cant remember where I seen it but I think the outer box which I tossed said 220. But the key for me is that the aluminum metal base of each bulb is printed in black capital alphanumeric the code ZW9D12W-H145 which is the exact same code as my original equipment bulb. Now I have to tell you besides going with the picture its a good idea to send a message to the seller what it is your looking for, in my case the bulb in number on my bulb matches their add and tell them its exactly what I expect to get to fit my sterilizer, and then I usually link my Kool-Goods model. Just as a precaution its always important to send the vendor expectation info for something like this.

Sorry about that, just write them and tell them why that you did not revived the bulb number in the add and would like them to send the right bulbs.

yep the bulbs i was sent the metal base are completely blank. I sent them a message but i still waiting for a reply.
