Quick review of the 9 Watt submersible UV generic sterilizer & replacement bulbs

For the sake of those just tuning in, these last few post are referring to the UV bulb supply source seller, not the UV sterilizer itself or its seller which is fantastic product and seller. The post is on topic becasue its referring to the latest issues in dealing with the UV light bulb and seller posted as part of the original thread and recent problems associated with the quality and subsequent seller refund / buyer protection process:yuck:

Having said all that I am about to go to the post office to see what the damages will be since Im required by ("buyer protection") to not only pay for shipping the product back to Hong Kong but providing tracking numbers, after-which if and when the seller acknowledges receipt, I will be refunded my cost minus re-shipping cost, the results of which I will post later. But so far I have learned a valuable lesson in the "buyer protection process" is that the buyer (me) is not really the customer in these resolution transactions, the customer is actually the seller, and as the old adage goes, the customer is always right.

Hey CWO, thanks for all the info in this thread, though I'm a little unsettled now. I just purchased two units from the Kool_goods guy, and he's great; I bought a Sunsun 302 from him and love it, and his customer service is excellent.

This whole thing has got me worried, now that I have two of the UV sterilzers, though I know it will be a while before I'm needing replacement bulbs.

Hopefully, things will work out for you and the others who have received the wrong bulbs; I'm eager to hear how things go.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I found some email addresses for the Sunsun company, USA sales division, and phone numbers, too, though I'm not gonna pay the dime to call China, lol.

Here are the addresses, which are supposed to be contact addresses for USA sales:

Thank you for the sweet reply, but remember I am talking about a completely different seller the Cool Good and its canisters. Also as a previous poster pointed out there are other UV bulb sellers both eBay and web that have far better reputations and as a result better service and products. With respect to the UV bulb seller posted in this original opening thread post, sadly its a different story. However ultimately I blame myself for seeing the warning signs of the poster that got sent the wrong items before I did. Even though I specifically requested and received confirmation from the seller of right part number before I bought, I had a feeling I would receive the wrong parts and did. So I'm partly to blame.

Update. The cheapest mode of shipping with tracking number will cost almost $29 or 90% of the original purchase price. So I called my bank and Paypal and they both agree that my argument for free return shipping is valid. So I have escalated this argument to eBay requesting a free printable UPS shipping label. So its in eBays hands now, and I am proven wrong that the dispute process works fairly by providing buyers a no cost option to send back the items that are wrong, plus a full refund, no one will be more pleased then I.

My one issue with this unit is that I have had 2 apple snails die from getting sucked into different openings on it. First, one got sucked into the small grate right below the outlet nozzle. I just covered that up with a jungle val clipping, no big deal. But then one got sucked into the air intake, and I don't want to cover that because I like the high flow I get from it being all the way open.

Perhaps a small piece of nylon window screen or plastic craft canvas to cover the opening without restriction is the answer. Personally I don't like multiplying snails.

I must admit I was surprised to see an eBay email from eBay letting me know that they have good news that a decision had been reached to refund my entire purchase plus shipping price of $38. No gloating just thankful to God its over and done with since this problem came on the heels of another I had to resolve today as well when I received a certified letter informing me that the person I had sold my boat and trailer to 3 years ago somehow had the trailer abandoned it in the state park with my old license plate and registration. Not wanting to pay the $1800 towing and 60 days impound fees, had to go show proof of sale which took me off the hook completely. All lessons leaned, eBay buyer beware and properly notify the DMV yourself of all registered vehical transactions, even small 2 wheel trailers. So yes I'm thankful as this was a hard won week for new and old transactions.:bowing:PTL

Now to find a UV bulb seller with high volume and high reputation...

I Have one of those from Kool Goods as well. But you have to watch out where you get replacement bulbs from. I bought 2 from another dealer, these ones in fact.

They don't work. nothing appears to be wrong with them but the ballast wont light them up.

Yeah, Im not taking any chances with reputations below 99% or silent sellers. I sent an email to this seller out of California who is top rated and sells the same submersible pump and related replacement bulbs and, was allowed to explained the concerns over these recent 9w UV bulbs that don't work and are marked for 220V, and get answers. He assured me that his bulbs always work perfectly for these type submersible 9W sterilizers and he sold thousands. So I ordered 1 bulb as a test for $9.50 shipped, if it works I will be ordering more using whatever part number is labeled on that bulb. So this time Im fairly confident becasue the seller in national, top-rated, high volume, excellent price, and willing to answer buyers concerns and provide assurances. :grinyes:

One thing I would like to point out in the quest for 9W UV Lamps for the sterilizer below. You will note the manufacturer code on the back label "JUP-01" even though this submersible UV sterilizer is sold under many names for a wide range of pricing $26 to $100, the code stands for exact same 9w submersible UV sterilizer that look identical and use the same lamp note coolgoods label and the same code from the trading company that apparently took over Sunsun or uses the same name. Anyway my point is this code can also be used to find the right lamp, I have also posted another hight reputation supply source that list the bulb by this code under Sunsun JUP-01

Good news! The NEW "Top Seller" I chose to buy replacement 9W/UV bulb for only $9.50 works and fits inside the 9W submersible JUP-01 under many different names fit and worked excellent. However even though I was standing 4 feet away when I took this photo, about 4 seconds of exposure time, made my eyeballs feel like I got a slight arch weld flash burns. So don't do this at home. So I Highly recommend this top-seller for the price, but also recommend that you email the seller to make sure you are buying the bulb with the same markings just in case they switch suppliers like what happened with my last seller who sold me and another member defective bulbs. So I can certify first hand that lotuspond2010 sells a good 9W UV bulb for the JUP-01 type submersible sterilizer, bulb marked Jebao 9W. See photos below

Next I think Im going to try the seller I mentioned in the privious post that sells 3 bulbs for $20 shipped even cheaper, Ill let you know how that goes. In the mean time Im going to order another 9W submersible JUD-01 from this seller for $25 a great price as well.
