Stocking advice for a planted 92 corner tank

I am probably going to put another light in the back too.

I got some lights to hit this part of the tank better. I think that I am either going to remove or re-situate the piece of wood running across the sand to make this plantable. The big central stump was originally supposed to be less upright, but a missed attachment and floaty wood changed that. I like it this way better, but that piece of wood isn't seen or serving any purpose.

After 2 days of taking 2 and 3 ppm ammonia to zero with zero nitrite 2 days in a row, I went out and got some fish. We got 2 clown plecos and 3 dozen neons. I am surprised that the tank doesn't feel as sparse as I thought it would.

And even though the bright young lady at the pet store was trying to convince me that adding 38 fish at once was a recipe for disaster, my parameters went from ammonia:0, nitrite:0, nitrate:3 to ammonia:0, nitrite:0, nitrate:0 overnight. How will I ever rebound? LOL

My water is pH 8.0-8.2 after aging, KH is around 150 ppm, and GH is around 300 ppm. At some point today, I will probably get an RO system, but not in the near future. I also need to find another place to get water in my house, since the utility sink is the only one that has softened cold water for some reason. I might just T into a little e that is nearby for the back garden hose, but don't want to bother sweating the pipe right now. If it were PVC, it would already be done.
Rainbow Cichlids - Herotilapia multipsinosa could be a good choice for 8.0 considering many lakes in Central America are that PH.....a fairly docile species I have them in a community with mildly-aggressive SA/CA cichlids, SE Asian Cyprinids, and a variety of SA/CA/Asian/African Catfish

Lol, are you still trying to talk me into cichlids? If I were to scrap plants, I'd go full tanganyikan. I saw some really nice Brichardis today, but bought 20 corys instead. :-)

not trying to "talk you into" anything - just figured the hobby might be enhanced several times over by keeping one of the most if not THEE most intelligent family of fish. Call me crazy, but I love animals that respond to me and recognize individual people as opposed to fish dumb enough that 20 of them will eat the same piece of poop before they finally figure out it's not food. I have many friends that "usedto be fishkeepers" because they interest in the hobby quickly and I told them they should try keeping fish with personality and intelligence and therefore always recommend cichlids. Those who have converted ever turned back. IF you want to teach your kids about fish and give them something to really spark their interest, I can think of no fish better besides and actual true Shark.

I'm just ribbing you a little Frank. I like cichlids, and if I had a 2nd tank, it would be a Tanganyikan setup for sure. As it is, the wife has said that she only wants one tank in the house (I have recovered from a bad case of multiple tank syndrome), but my 5 year old is getting a 20 gallon for a goldfish this week (once I get my other sump operational), so maybe there is another tank in my future. i do have a 55 gallon tank that I can't seem to sell... ;^)
