SUNSUN HW-302 Outside Filter setup & test

I went to the biggest dollar store around and couldn't find them. That's why I got the bath poufs instead. They are made out of nylon mesh so I figured why not! I would have gone to more stores but my husband brought me and he is not too fond of shopping so I figured I better not press my luck.

I just hope I can figure this ball valve system out. I have never done anything like this before.

Can you print the picture?

If you can, you could take it with you to the hardware store. I'm sure they can help you figure it out.

Sorry for the delay Rod is quite correct 1 and 3 are the same part and 2 is the ball valve.

Thanks Rod...

Best wishes,
Wes

I can probably print that picture. Thanks again you guys are awesome for helping me. Just still need to know where exactly that stuff goes on the filter.

its quite simple the canister filter has 2 tubes that connect to the top of it. 1 tube brings water from your tank to the canister that line is called INPUT the other line is called OUT PUT and it takes the water from the canister back to your tank. all you do is cut the tubing in half from the OUT PUT line stick 1 one of the tubing pieces on each side of the ball valve and your done. adjust the flow with the knob on the ball valve yes its just that simple it may seem confusing but its not actually. i always cut the tubing about 2/3's the way up and install my ball valves but it doesnt matter where you cut and insert the ball valve its up to you just where in the tubing you want it. i just prefer my ball valves up high where they are easy to get at instead on under the stand where its hard to get to them due to not alot of space.

Thank you Rod. It does sound simple and you explained it well. I am still waiting for the filter to arrive...I can't wait!

You guys are the BEST for helping me out like this :dance2:

new sunsun filter

I finally got my first canister filter  and it is a sunsun, setup was pretty easy. When using the green pot scrubbers do you have to do anything special to them?

I didn't. I put six of them in the basket.

It is said that patience is a virtue ...
I had the same problem ... I checked the tracking every day until it arrived at my door.:y220d:

Your time will come. You won't be disappointed.

You might also want to consider going to your nearest Walmart and picking up a bag of 100% polyester fiber fill. It's what is used for stuffing pillows, teddy bears, dolls, etc... It's cheap and it goes a long ways. I've had good success with it over the past few months.

The SunSun usually comes with some filter pads for each of the baskets.
I put Fluval Pre-filter in the bottom basket topped with one of those preshapped filter pads. In the second basket I put six plasic pot scrubbers from dollar general. In the top basket I sandwiched the polywool that standardbyker63 was talking about between the remaining two pads. That's is the extent of my filter. And I do not expext to have to change any filtration for at least 9 months.

I hope this helps sort out what to use for filter media for some.

This seems to work for me for now ... your milage may vary.

Best wishes,
Wes
