Nerdy, you should definitely do 3 years of a world language, even if you just take it CP (or whatever your lowest level of class is) then colleges will still be happy. I know that most want 3 consecutive years of the SAME language (wouldn't let me switch to french, there goes my dream of turning my nerites into dinner) and that some even require 4 years.
I took CAD last semester, and also took it for 3 years in middle school, try to learn what most of the icons represent before you get too far ahead, as it becomes much easier to troubleshoot and figure out how to do something when you have a good understanding of that. It's a fun class if you get the right teacher, although the basic stuff you do is kinda crappy. I'm taking robotics now, and we just play with legos all day. Not that there's anything wrong with that (It's fun as hell), but it's not really challenging.
