The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

Got more rock!

Well we took another ride to the LFS today and got a bit more rock. We got two good size rocks that have a bunch of stuff on them. There together about 12.3lb. One of them has this cool clam that is open and encrusted in Coraline. The other one has Macro on it and a strange looking orange sponge. My GF is doing more scaping as I type.

Here are some more pictures.

Sweet! Those are really nice looking rocks. I never got any plants on my live rock like I see on yours. You should cut some of that and plant it on your fuge. Good stuff.

Sponges don't care for light to much so just don't place that one with orange one with light shining directly on the sponge. Hopefully it will grow. It's ok the way it is facing in the picture. Sponges are great filter feeders and that is a nice looking one. I know you don't have the light right now.. just saying.

Yeah it would be cool if it will grow but it was out in the air so I think that kills them dosen't it?

LOL, no, I think that mainly applys to coralline. The plants should be just fine for a while out in the air. I sure hope so, mine are exposed to air quite often for a short period when I drain my sump/fuge during water changes. And even with the coralline, it seems it has to dry out.. simply keeping a moist paper towel around the rocks should be sufficient to keep it alive. That was the conclusion I came to anyway with why my spraybar bleached so fast.. there was a fan blowing over the tank.. plastic... drys out very fast.

I ment the sponge!

Oh.. well duh. I knew that, what you think I'm stupid now? LOL.

Actually, I don't know about that. I have never really researched sponges, just been told they are good to have and there are some really colorful ones out there.
