The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

Woodright, if you want some macro for your tank/fuge, I can give you some chaeto, and I have a ton of halimeda. I also have some Caulerpa prolifera, but its slowly coming back from being almost killed off so I don't have too much of that. I work in West Hartford if you wanted to meet up at some point.

Yeah that would be great. Hey do you know of any good fish stores around here? We have been going to this place in Milford and All Pets in Wallingford. That ad we'er looking for a loacl SW fish club. Do you have any ideas?

Can someone ID this for me?

I think it is some sort of sponge but I'm not sure. Also if it is a sponge do you think it will grow? When we bought it, it was exposed to the air. I read that sponges dye if exposed to air even for a second. Dose it all dye or only the outside?

Here is a couple pictures of it.

There is a reef club in CT, Connecticut Area Reef Society (CTARS). they have a forum over on Reef Central. I'm not a member, mostly because I'm usually busy when they have meetings on Sunday afternoons, but I think they usually meet someplace in Manchester. Sounds like a pretty together club.

The stores I frequent most are Aquatic Wildlife in Manchester, Noreast Wet Pets in Vernon, and most recently Puppy Center in West Hartford. Puppy Center has a pretty amazing fish section for an all-pets type of store, and lots of interesting frags. If you join CTARS, I believe members also get a discount at Aquatic Wildlife and maybe a few other stores.

We have been looking in to (CTARS) a bit. They also have meetings at the fish store we goto in Milford.

Cool we will have to check them out also.

We don't really need the Macro yet but when we do we will take you up on that. We don't really know anyone else that we could trade with or anything around here so that would be great.

Yeah just let me know. In a few months I can probably hook you up with a few zoa frags and some mushrooms too if you want.

That would be great. My GF has some in her 20g and is starting to frag them. Now that we have this tank I think she's gonna try and fill it up. I really want a clam or clams. I guess you have to have MH's for that. I think we are going to get a power compact unit for now and then buy some of those really nice looking clip on MH's after. I also found a cool set of moon lights that we can add to the tank.

I'm still looking for some help on that sponge.

to me, looks like a regular sponge that comes on liverock. I'm no expert though. There's not much you can do either way, if it got a lot of air in it, it will probably die off, if not, it will spread.

I have a 10gal QT tank that i'm planning on turning into a little frag farm after i finish stocking my tank, and I'll have a lot of stuff by then, hopefully. I'm always down for trading for new stuff.

Yeah she wanted to get a small frag tank also but now that she had to buy this QT tank I think she is thinking of making that a frag tank. If it were me I would keep this one as a QT and get a nice setup for her Frag/Coral tank.
