The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

I don't know what it is about cleaner shrimp but they are hard to come by at even the LFS in my area. That site doesn't even list them. They are great cleaners and definately recommend you get 1 or 2 at your LFS when the chance arises... after the cycle of course.

I am a fan of the Sally Lightfoot crabs as well. Fast cleaners and act like a spider.

Yeah I have 2 lightfoot on the list. She has one of those worms in her tank it's cool looking and comes out of his hole about 2.5" and there is still allot in the hole and rips algae off and snaps back in the hole. Can you buy them also or do you only get them off LR?

Did you adjust the valve? Most times you have to play with the intake valve a little at startup to get it going.

Also, my previous skimmer had a 700gph pump attached to it and on startup it would overflow. I had to plug it in, let it fill up to just about overflowing, then unplug it, do that several times until it steadied out. Was a PITA.

What type of skimmer do you have?

WoodRight:
They usually always come with live rock. You normally don't have to worry about them... there will be a few no matter what.

its a coralife skimmer ,cant find anymore on it .
lol i think i put the valve on the pump lmfao .too funny .............

once we get it the way we like it .......will be so much worth it !

p.s..............my daughter wants a hexagon with sea horses lol another fewk lol

Blossom justa recommendation - run that coralife skimmer inside the sump, not as HOB. I was running mine in HOB mode on the sump for a while to save space, and periodically it overflows out the top for no good reason that I can see. Several times it drained my sump onto the floor....not a good thing. At least if it does that in the sump, the water stays in the sump. I wish I had saved up some extra money for a better skimmer.

Thank you sploke, nice to know lol
we will have to improvise so it doesnt tip over ,i will have hubby read this too .
im sure we can come up with something .
We have time to get the skimmer up right ? only live rock and cc in it .
Sandstorm clearing up nicely and looking good
1.021 hydrometer .
this is funny when we added salt into the sump and took advice from here to put less and wait when we left it the reading was at 1.016 and about 3 to 4 hours later it was at 1.021.
think we should add another half cup /?hubby seems to think it is fine .
Temp 79.26 moving up lol, we will have to tweak the thermoter .
78 is the temp right?
IM going to make a chart and put it on the wall ,untill we get the swing of this .

woodright....do you have your sump going while cycling?

Yes it has not stooped for any reason. We also have a Koralia #1 on it's way. My girl friend was trying to get the order up to a certain wight and a #3 would have put her up to high so she just got a #1. We figure we could use it so were even if it is in the fuge.

Blossom did I read that right? Are you using Crushed Coral on the bottom of your tank?
