You're welcome!

Well, I can't put the stand in place because my parents want to paint that wall where I want to put it. :irked: Add another tally to the problem of living at home. Couldn't they have decided and done this earlier? :headshake2:

Anyways, this gives more time for the urethane to dry, and hopefully harden up a bit more. Also, I can work on painting the background of the tank a bit more.

Looks like some of the paint won't really stick to certain areas of the glass. I used alcohol and windex to clean it. I sprayed paint on the areas but they kinda of bubble...looks like really bad orange peel where I can see the glass.

I feel like scraping those parts off and spraying it again.

Try a very very very dark tint instead of painting?

Yesterday, I got black exterior semi-gloss latex paint mixed at the BBHS. I got one coat on it but unfortunately, the weather went crappy. Cold and overcast, misting occasionally. Can't put the second coat on it. It really needs a few coats. It looks terrible in person.

My parents managed to paint that wall so the stand is back indoors, where the urethane can finally cure. So here's a nice picture of the stand. It's quite shiny. I know, there's a few spots where the stain didn't get the wood very well.

Initially, I wanted to get a set of Catalina Solar T5HO lamps but I got a set of lights for the classifieds at plantedtank.net. It's a Current USA 4x54W T5HO Nova Extreme. I'll only be using it as 2x54W. It's hard to capture on film how bright this thing is when all 4 lamps are ablaze.

So close, yet so far...:thud:

One more afternoon (or two) and I'll be switched over and running.

I made a "cushion" of spongy foam (kind of like the foam used in body boards, only thinner) for the rim, so the tank is resting on that.

Let's see how much I can do tomorrow:
- move the plants over
- move the plant substrate over
- add sand, gravel, and pebbles as planned
- move driftwood
- arrange plants
- move fish over

Got plants moved over, trimming and removing bad growth, dead parts, and algae in the process. Moved some substrate over but it's really clouding up the water so I moved the fish to a bucket first. Trapping shrimp at the moment. Since I have a few hours to kill tomorrow morning, I'll continue moving substrate over.

Now that classes have resumed, it's going to be one step at a time.

No photo update, but 99% of the plant substrate is moved over, sand is rinsed out, and the fish are already enjoying their new home! Well, they were white as ghosts when I moved them in but a few of them are returning to normal colors already.

Will take a few pictures tomorrow. I plan on leveling out the plant substrate, rinsing out the gravel, and start putting in the surface tomorrow.
