The petition to save Rocky!

The point is that it's this dude's fish that he's had for 10 years and he's really attached to the thing and hell, worse things have been grandfathered in (**coughmutilatingchimpcough**) so there's no reason this can't be an exception to the rule. It's not just a fish, it's his fish. That's like saying someone you love and care about is just another person and easily disposable because there are so frickin' many of us. Which may be the case to a stranger, but not to you, and not to anyone who can sympathize with you. Dig?

fish.......people........fish.......people.......sorry bud, I cant dig that comparison. this guys emotional attachment to a fish is nothing to get upset about in my mind. I support this petition, but that’s only because I am against overbearing environmental laws. Especially those that intrude into our private homes. If this petition was one to allow him to keep his fish, I'd be all for this! but its not. its just a petition. same as if everyone signed a white piece of printer paper. a legislator will look at it and think "what is this for?".

for all of you wondering what the petition is for and why people want it signed.....Its simple. In a country what was founded on a freedom of speech and assembly, backed through a democratic Republic, people found that raising their voices to their elected officials sometimes got results. Unfortunately for some this freedom because a luxury. a means of acquiring what they wanted through a loud voice. alot of times people protest just for the simple fact that they can. Some folks just like to be heard.

@Donkey: It all has to do with what's important to you. This fish is important to this guy, and we all think that if something is important to you and it hurts no one, there's no reason it should be taken away.

@People wondering: If there's a lot of signatures in this petition (which basically says he should be allowed to keep his fish)it shows that as a group, this is something we all want. It's a little more powerful than just one guy fighting for his fish, because there's quite a bit more than one. If they kill him anyway, that shows all of us that there is something terribly wrong with our government (not that we didn't know that anyway, but this is concrete proof thrown into our faces).

IMO, petitions don't always get things done, but there is an off chance that it will work, so why not try anyway? At least it will show people i power the general opinion.

Yup..my heart was removed when i was hard wired in to AquariaCentral's main frame...i now have a processor where it once was....

LOL...thats along the lines i was thinking about..

I can understand that CCM..thanks....BUT...what is this going to achieve? Ok, fair enough, if it was this.. " If you get 1000 signatures, we WILL give the fish a new home "....but its not....or...." If you get 1000 signatures, we will change a certain law "....but, again, its not...these are the reasons why i dont follow why a petition is running or what its going to achieve.....must be because i am not a resident of the US and cant comprehend what this will achieve...sorry...
It would be my guess it is simply a matter of living in seperate countries that is causing the misunderstanding. These things actually do work. The sheriff in my county has been brought up on 22 different federal charges. One person decided to circulate a petition and after seeing that almost 5000 people signed for his resignation, I am sure it's not the ONLY reason, but he resigned. It's all about politicians doing what they think will keep them in office a little longer as someone else has already said.

I can understand that Petluvr....but...this is a fish, not a human being....for me, there is a very big different in petitioning for a person to be removed from office, than to keep a fish alive...( and yes, believe it or not, i am very passionate about fish, but, i do see a devide between humans and fish )
