They spawned

I used to siphon the bottom with airline tubing with the other hand ready to pinch the siphon closed. It's stressful and time consuming, but I siphon into a large white bucket and if I still manage to suck up fry (and I usually do), I transfer them back to the nursery tank with a baster. The fry are unharmed.

L loach Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Glad to hear they are still doing well :D Well most of them ;)

I lost a couple more today, though. Thinking maybe with some of the salvinia dying there may be some ammonia, so i removed it carefully. And now took the time to introduce cycled media from the main tank.

I keep rocks with holes in my filters to seed cycles, so added one of these rocks to their box. Suctioned out as much debris aa i could.

Kept the almond leaves still.

Im starting to see some growth differences. Some are still very small and half the size as the largest. Over time if these fail to catch up they will probably be culled.

You're doing well to only lose a few out of ~200, so far, so good. I hate culling & usually hope for natural attrition, but...200!! That's probably more than I've had over several spawns with any 1 species! & for first time parents (are they? I think you said), all I can say is wow! amazing!

How's the infusoria supply holding up? & how are your eyes holding up to dealing with tiny fry & tinier poo?

Keep up the pics, we love them!

They're not dying from the Salvinia. You actually want them to die as it is the normal/natural process that most of the fish fry die, feed the small/sickly/deformed ones to your other fish as harsh as it may sound. Sure you can try and keep most of them alive, that's what the fish farms do, that's one of the reasons why the quality is so low.
