I don't understand how an animal can get used to be killed. I guess the fisrt time a deer gets killed is the last one. Sorry to face you directly, but what you are saying is like I say "people is sooo used to be shot and killed in XXX popoulous city by something, why not criminals"
Sorry for all the people there that enjoy hunting. It's simply something I can not understand and share. Killing for pleasure is not one of my hobbies.
Okay, Pat. You've made your point and opinion. You don't like hunting. You don't understand the sport of hunting (the actual hunt, not necessarily the killing). That's fine. No one is looking for a debate about it. It goes nowhere.
I've had venison a few times, the first time was a bad experience. It wasn't prepared very well. Other than that, it's been pretty good. I've had moose as well, and that was pretty tasty. Then again, it may have been the way it was cooked.
In the city I live in, we get several dead dear at the side of the roads. Last year (or was it the year before) a motorcyclist was killed when a deer ran into his bike. The passanger was killed too. As was the deer. Just three weeks ago a guy hit a deer just outside of downtown Lansing. Lansing is a very busy city. Deer will move into the more populated and busy towns/cities in search of food, and this is very dangerous.

Isn't it ironic how the portrayal of hunters isn't really what it actually is. Given there are some that do poach, always exceptions to the rule. But if you think about it even natural predators have an advantage over there prey. They have claws, sharp teeth, speed and strenght. If humans only hunted with our hands we would never get anything.
But enough on that matter. We just started to get cronic wasting desease in my area.

Too bad about the CWD msouth. It is spreading fast and overpopulated herds are more susceptible. I hope it doesn't spread to Maine, but it certainly is possible. There are warnings in the law book about using urine based scents because they don't yet know whether or not it can be spread that way. The herd in my area has it hard enough with harsh winters and coyote predation, a CWD outbreak would be devastating.
