id feed pellets for the betta. flakes for the schoolers and shrimp pellets for the bottom dwellers. or you could just feed omega one pellets to the mid top dwellers and shrimp pellets for the bottom.
you probably will, but if you feed the same pellets for the mid-top dwellers then they should all get their own food and if you feed the shrimp when the lights are off then they should get their food too.
Ok. So I'm thinking Hikari Shrimp Cuisine for the shrimp...drfostersmith.com didn't have the omega one (and I'm $5 away from free shipping gosh darn it!), but I think I'll go with API mini tropical pellets. That's the brand I use for my goldies, and it's pretty good stuff. Not that I've eaten it or anything, lol!

LOL my amanos now are so plucky they come out while the lights are on and literally take bottom feeder pellets and bloodworms away from the cories! But when they were shyer (for a few weeks after I added the gouramis) I didn't see them eating anything but algae when the lights were on.
I actually do have issues with my community fish eating other fish's food. I sort of find it funny when the cories chase away a big pearl gourami who was eating an algae wafer on the bottom, which was put there for the shrimp. As mentioned the shrimp in these instances are busy eating the cories' meatier bottom feeder tablets over in the corner. And then the cories are happy to eat the flake that went in for the gourami. It's like musical foods In general the worst problem this brings is that it tempts me to overfeed to make sure everyone can have some of what they like that day.
Haha, aquatic creatures have way more personality than people give them credit for. I'm mostly just worried everyone wont get the proper nutrition. I'm thinking I may make a gel food for the shrimp and if the tetras pick at it, oh well. I don't think the betta would be interested in it, since they're carnivores. Probably will put in some of the hikari shrimp cuisine pellets, cucumber, seaweed, carrots, spirulina, and algae wafers...maybe some romaine and kale leftover from making my goldies gel food, too. And the gelatin of course.
I think your food selection sounds great - nice and varied.
I like your stock plan too. I am considering a small school of lamp eye killifish to go with my betta. Saw them today at the LFS and WOW! And maybe a mystery snail. I am about 75% decided on the betta + small school tank, the other choice was multis, or apisto + small school. We both have to post pictures once these are up!
