Wow 3500 dollars for an arrowana!
I don't mind paying for things that are rare or unusual or hard to get.
I paid 46$ C for my royal pleco and was wondering how far people go as to what they'll pay. I think Ash David went furthest hehehehe :D

I've paid a tad over $200 usd for a discus. Heard of them going for over $14,000 over in asia for top of the line breeders. I wouldn't think twice about shelling out $300 for a nice potential breeding quality discus. Thats for adult fish too, but I've seen and know some breeders that sell certain strains for $200-250 for a single two or three month old fish (2.5-3"). Thats also just the fish cost, then ya gotta throw the shipping cost ($60-75) in there. LFS fish just simply don't cut it when it comes to quality and health.

I know this Asian restraunt owner that pays several $1000s a piece for large, salt water Angel Fish over a foot long.

Most I've paid is $60 for marine betta, but he was worth the price. I see rare Plecos command prices of over $100, and Koi and get crazy as well. I've never paid over $10 for a fresh water fish and never will.

I have heard of flowerhorns going for 30,000 plus in asia. I personal have paid only $140 for one that was 3" inches long.

I've paid $45 for my tropheus dubiosi at about 2". Well worth it imo. The adults don't look as cool as the juvies and they sell for even more(~$60).

I've seen lots of really expensive plecos, the rare ones are really rare here, so a 3" royal will command $120-$150 CAD.

$35, for a 3" L075

I've never considered price a factor when making a fish purchase, though. I decide what I want, if I can house it, if I can find it, and then just buy it. By chance alone I've never paid over $35 + tax for a fish yet. I also buy juveniles, I don't like buying adult fish.

I also bought a juvenile fish (3 inches, arowanas are much much cheaper small) and I have the same out look on buying fish as you Raskolnikov, if I like it I buy it. Just sometimes it can hurt the back pocket!!!

a friend of mine paid $9,500 for a extremely rare blueberry oscar. Now SA keepers dont jump up and say that those are dyed fish because they were in fact line bred here on the weastcoast and I believe are now beeing bred in Japan. He's had it for more than year and his colors remain the same, he's just beautiful. Although I will say you must cautious because 99% of blueberry Oscars are dyed. The rare color of these oscars (even dyed) will empty someones pocket easily. The dyed ones color will washout fairly quickly though, less than a year.

20 bucks, 15 for first Red Bellied Piranha, 5 for second.....originally wanted a black but was too much for me, $80
