$55 5 inch female Blue Dempsey, hoping to breed them. :thm:

Same fish here but it was $60.

Tono keep in mind that only about 4% of blue males are fertile. If you want to breed the blue you will have to cross with a regular male.

In which case you are looking at about 2 years worth of breeding and breeding back before you get actual blue fish. It is better to try and do it with a couple of pairs to keep the gene pool as strong as possible.
Faster as well.
Generation two will be the longest to breed because only 25% of the fry will have the recessive blue gene and finding which may take some time.

I stopped after one of my two females died. Death by floor. So now I only have the one 6" female and some misc sterile males.

Good luck to you and the breeding. Hope you succeed.

i voted up to $10...but i'm getting into cichlids which i've found to be sort of expensive compared to livebearers. but here in FL, fish are overall pretty cheap...until you get into the really rare or unique fish.

I just spent $10 on a pair of juvenile Kribensis yesterday, right now they are in a tank with a pair of juvenile gold rams that I paid $12 for the pair.

now when you talk about fish tanks....i've spent lots of money on tanks...

I payed 25$ for a hybred Red pearl flowerhorn cichlid he is the biggest fish i have i would say he is easly 10 inches without fins I got him with a 75 gallon tank and he is really cool I swear he is more like a dog then a fish follows us from one side of the tank to the other and if you stand in front of the tank and pay her no attention she with fan her tail back and forth like a dog would his tail like hey hey ... hello down here ... lol

I voted over $100. I keep discus and even the 3" juvies are $50-$100 for anything remotely decent. Some of mine were a bit over $200.

I'd luv to have big flowerhorn.....nice :)
i purchased a baby FH, (nickle size) a month and a half ago for five bucks, now he is an inch and a half, with green pearls and awesome black flowers. I put a mirror one the side of the tank sometimes, and his color already flushes red in the gills when he sees his reflection!!! I cant wait to see if a huge nuchal will develop, I am hoping I have a male. They grow quickly too, so I have to get the big tank set up by end of summer. In a month he is going to go in the 35 gallon on my back porch for summertime. Only downside is that when he is full grown he will have a big ol' tank all by himself- I suppose I can get dividers and put a couple bp's on the other side. I love hybrids, as long as they arent being dyed, I see no problem with them. :OT: Anyway, if you ever in the future decide to go with a flowerhorn/ luo-han- make sure you will be ready to sacrifice alot of tank space- they will not tolorate tankmates well. The price they fetch overseas in ridiculous too, thousands and thousands of dollars. I am lucky I live near chinatown where they have often have fry. Only thing I have to do is make sure I dont bring another one home- :joke:

$35 SPENT on a blue crayfish, but I assure you, the bar will bee raised
As far as value my blood parrot is worth 70-80 dollars. No idea how much the 9" electric catfish was worth.
