why must it happen to me?

alright ill do the water change tonight

nate

i used the water from the tank to clean the filter catrige and id u mean that or the filter it self? and ill listen to with the feeding becasue petsmart said to feed twice a day for 2 minutes of eating.

OK Good. Just wanted to make sure you didn't wash your bacteria away :) Cut back on the feedings, do frequent water changes as mentioned until your tank is cycled again. Once its cycled, you can most likely go back to once a week as you were doing.
One last question and you may have answered it already (sorry didn't read every reply), have you added any new fish lately?

i did like 13 days ago then i had a power outage and 4 died so i bought 3 danios and 2 cichlids to replace the dead ones

should i get more filtration or aeration/ would that help?

actually, during cycling many people recommend only feeding ONCE EVERY THREE DAYS. This is because if they eat less, they'll make less waste, and you won't have to do water changes everyday. They'll be fine. Fish can go weeks without eating (they're cold-blooded so dont' have to generate body heat which takes a lot of energy).

I don't think additional filtration or aeration will help. At this point, the best thing you can do is water changes, water changes.

ty and like i said before im 15 new to this and my first tank so sorry for sounding like an idiot to experts

Don't worry about it, Nate! You don't sound like an idiot. I'm sorry if people are being impatient with you. I certainly didn't mean to.

I started keeping aquaria (both salt and fresh) when I was 12 and I killed TONS of fish. I had no idea about cycling and stuffed a dozen fancy goldfish into a 10 gal tank!!! Fish would die so often that I wouldn't even bother removing the bodies until they grew mold. Horrible, isn't it? I just didn't care if they died.

So you're better than I was. And you're trying hard to learn now, so by the time you're my age (28) you'll be an expert!

ty for the encouragement and i hope i am to i just love fish i love sharks and hopefully i have enough money to get a shark in a big tank
