10 Gallon Paludarium A Tribute

Well today I got some more moss... I like moss. I think that the round leaf one might just grow underwater. It seems to like it wet anyway. I will be running some tests as soon as I get some more growth.

Oh and my pests have multiplied.

I got a really nice shot of some of the new batch of round leaf moss that I found.

I really wish I could find some more information about this stuff.

Anyone know what this red stemmed plant in the foreground is?

Thanks for looking.

the tanks looking great, very unique.
for the bugs you can kill them with co2. If you can get your hands on some dry ice, just pop it in and it will fill the tank with co2 and kill all animals in the tank, and not harm the plants.
I would just put in some earwigs though, as they will eat aphids.

I still haven't decided. But right now I am leaning toward fire bellied newts and endlers. My concern is that I want interesting bottom dwellers. More research is necessary. I am thinking about shrimp and corys but haven't found any cool water corys, or shrimp for that matter but I haven't researched much.

I plan on sorting out the moss. Letting it grow to see was grows best and looks the nicest then culling the rest. I also want to get rid of my bug problem and ID all of the plants before adding a firebelly.

Still looking for an ID on the red stemmed grass looking plant. I think that one would grow readily fully submersed but I am not sure.

I did the same thing with the moss in my tank. I was surprised when nearly all of the mosses I put in did well.
It looks like you have a lot of light and moisture in there so they should be sweet.
Good luck with the id on the plants, but I think you would need a flower to make positive id's.
Oh and earwigs eat all kinds of bad bugs, and are encouraged to live in organic gardens for that reason.
Just google 'organic earwig aphid' for proof

Thanks for the help ohbly. I have found a solution to many of my problems. I have flooded the tank. fully filled with water right now.(pics when I find the camera) It looks neat. Any thoughts on how long I should leave it submerged if I want to find out which mosses will survive in a totally submerged situation?

Kinda goes back to that saying... the solution to the polution is dilution.

Its looking great - can't help with any of your questions but wanted to say great work.
