Help! Emergency tank upgrade

I received a ton of great info In my 1st post here at AC

I will be referring back to when I do go out and about for plants.

Dont forget to watch the fish too.!
So far we’re still sitting at one total loss. The guppies are all fine and acting like I am starving them. ( lightly feeding yes... starving far from it ?)
I did a bit of peeking And moving things around just a tad and I located all the pigmy’s. I tested again this morning and I have traceable Nitrates. Yesterday tube was yellow still. We have moved on to the more orange Than yellow. Ammonia and nitrite are still 0.
I am feeling a bit better and might be able to sleep tonight that’s for sure!
This was rough

I have had leaks before preventing me from upgrading but never a hole in a tank forcing one. This was an experience I hope never repeated.

don't expect for higher nitrates, hope for less ammonia and nitrite. if they are good, so is your cycle.

the amount of bacteria in your aquarium will roughly double in less than a day, until there is no more food (or nitrogel compounds) for them to consume, a bit like pest snails.

I'd get a bigger filter.. but shop around and slow down. it will be OK. !
Well slowing down is not in my other half’s language. Hehe
the screen top was a no go and since he is now on board with the 20g he wanted the screen gone and knew I wanted a filter.
He did ok for a rookie he went with the same brands to avoid compatibility issues so he ordered Marineland penguin 200 and the Marineland LED lid. ( the catch ) he wants my nice light bar for his ventures ... I don’t want to be unappreciative so I happily agreed.
So now on to the fix! I need to find an additional light source for my plants. Anyone have any luck with the submersible full spectrum light bars ? How about the clip on models ?

Is the Marineland led lid so bad you need additional lighting? For the plants the type of lighting doesn't matter much (except brightness) but if you are a person that likes natural colors in the tank it does.

I haven’t received it yet. But based on a lot of reviews from both Marineland and amazon the lights themselves are sensitive to moisture and it seems to be a design flaw. And they tend to break quickly. being just stock lights. I didn’t expect much. But after reading they break fast. I started thinking of what would be a good bar in addition. A lot on amazon comes off a bit gimmicky ( is that a word?)

Ok I get it. Look for a SMD 2835 6000k or 6500k led strip, it is the best quality led light you can get and is cheap, it's a tape so you just stick it over the led in the lid. With power adapter probably in the $20 range. Would be a shame to have to get rid of the hood just because the light fails (but that is what you get with leds)

I read about Light strips In other threads but didn’t have further info. I will check them out now. Ty. That’s exactly what I was thinking no sense in tossing the whole thing.

Obviously, there are tons of led strips with all kinds of colors. But this is the one you want if you want it to look natural. The CRI (Color Rendering Index) is over 95 meaning it will beat any light in making the colors look natural. It will have more Lumens as what was in there as well.
